The Orion Factor, by Kevin Ryan?

I just stumbled upon two titles on Amazon UK:

The Orion Factor, Book One: Song of Innocense
The Orion Factor, Book Three: Fearful Symmetry

Both listed for release in december this year. Thoughts? I know Amazon can be a inaccurate with advanced listings, so are they new or some missed placed old project? Two books of apparently a trilogy in one month surely can’t be right, and Fearful Symmetry being reused as a title so soon seems a little off...

Those titles have been there for over a year, and I'm pretty sure they've been debunked on this board in the past.

...if these have been discussed before: Did the title of the second book ever come up?

Amazon still have the JJ-verse books up for pre-order for May thru August, so I wouldn't put too much trust in their "forthcoming" sort of pages

amazon.de has them listed for December 2030, which I think is their standard date for books which were indefinitely delayed.

Oh, no, Amazon UK still has them for their intended months this year...

Like I said, not reliable. I mean just look at this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melissa-Dav...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266684546&sr=1-1

But don't try ordering it cos it doesn't exist! (It was clear after delivery that it needed to be a novel, not a novella, but Telos don't publish novels, and now don't do these novellas either, so, rather than publish the short version, it got cancelled a couple of years back and I'm looking out for a publisher for the expanded novel... But Amazon don't seem to have noticed that it never came out!)

Sure Amazon have a few duff listings, I've found some oddities on Simon and Schuster's own website before, so I'm not gunna hold that against them. Especially as they ahve plenty of perfectly accurate ones too, I think The Needs of the Many cropped up there before anywhere else for example.

These books were contracted, but then were cancelled. But once something's listed on Amazon it NEVER GOES AWAY. It's like herpes....

So what do they do if you order something that never comes out? Does it just stay in the system as a pre-order forever?

The order enters an alternate universe, where a very contented alternate-JD gets to read the latest alternate-Kevin Ryan Star Trek novel trilogy.

They wouldn't bill your credit card for a pre-order until the item actually shipped, so if the item never exists, then any pre-order that might remain in the system is just a ghost, having no real effect. I imagine it would remain until you removed it from your shopping cart or wish list.

Or after a while they'll tell you it's not available after all. Had that happen to me once trying to order a hard to find book, so I chose to cansel it when given the option.
