New image and new trailer (almost)

"Everywhere and anywhere, every star that ever was. Where do you want to start?"

That's some cool shit right there.

Easter! Does this mean it's the official launch date?

I liked the trailer. Or promo.

Smith has a sort of Pertwee quality. And his voice is way deeper than I expect it to be.

It's no, "Do you wanna come with me?"

Frankly, it looked more like a trailer for a CBBC show than anything else.

And the music? Instead of something bombastic and exciting we get something that sounds like it should be playing over the speakers in a supermarket.

Agreed! Of course the people who have decided already to hate Matt Smith aren't going to be impressed, but I thought the trailer was terrific! And we now have more or less an airdate - Easter 2010 the trailer says, so that makes it Saturday, April 3.

Which means, of course, that all those folks citing tabloids and the IMDb, etc. with their airdates are wrong!

Bring it on!

PS, here's the Doctor Who News Page version. The screengrab chosen for the video makes it look like the Doctor is with Ace!

I thought it was outstanding and let the haters hate if that is what they want to do. I'm liking both Matt and Karen and seeing the Weeping Angel again was awesome and the Dalak. So is Easter 2010 definitive?

This is going to be fun. The more I see of Matt Smith, the more I like him as The Doctor.

Weird little trailer, but it's making me feel good about Matt Smith. I've been trying to keep an open mind about him after being underwhelmed by his brief debut, but I like the way he delivers his lines here. I can see what Moffat meant about Smith being able to play older than his age.

As gimmicky as the trailer is, I think it's a good sign of what's to come.

Same here. Although some of his expressions DO get a bit goofy and over the top. Hopefully he doesn't take that kind of thing as far as McCoy did. lol

I'd like to make it clear I'm still hopeful for this next series, but that trailer was an embarrassment.

I agree it looked more childlike. Almost like something you'd see on "The Sarah Jane Adventures"

The new line about the stars still doesn't beat " I can feel the world spinning below my feet"

I think the first trailer for WHO for season one of RTD was more enigmatic.

That was awesome. It looked like a new mature take on WHO with Billie looking thuggish lol.

The one thing I don't like about that trailer is that it's actually physically painful to me that after all the build-up, he says "The trip of a lifetime," and not "Fantastic."

Use the damn catch-phrase! That's what it's for!

If the BBC says it is, then it is. A couple of websites are taking it literally and saying April 4, forgetting/not aware the show airs on Saturday so it'll be April 3.

And I really want to know what makes this trailer any less "childlike" than the Martha Jones trailer or the "Do you wanna come with me", or the first Donna Noble trailer which was a bunch of rapid-fire clips from the show. The day this show becomes a clone of Battlestar Galactica - which I guess must be what people want - I'm gone. It's a kids show that appeals to adults, pure and simple. It's been that way since 1963.

And if you think a kid's show can't be intelligent, then you have had your head in the sand for the last 10 years. Watch some anime. I feel the same way about Sarah Jane Adventures - people are knocking it because they say it's nothing but a kiddie show. They simply have not watched it. Full stop.

The trailer gives us clear as day a feel for what Moffat has in mind. He wants Doctor Who to be fun. And I don't understand why anyone seems to think this is a bad thing. If they don't think Doctor Who should be fun, from the trailer on down to the last episode, then they shouldn't be watching it anymore.
