Concept DVD Package for a special edition DVD set for Star Trek Voyager. So, my fellow Trekkies, check the logic:

According to the Star Trek wiki, Memory Alpha, Voyager has time traveled in 12 episodes throughout the series. In one episode, Relativity, it reveals that a special faction of the Federation was made to monitor the time continuum, and basically police the time line in case somebody seriously alters the Star Trek Universe. Their ship, the USS Relativity, could not only time travel, but was also unaffected by changes in the time line, so they always had a constant record of what was going on.

The idea behind this special edition DVD set would be all 12 time traveling episodes would be on 3 DVDs as "Temporal Archives" a data base of time-traveling events for Personnel of the Temporal Integrity Commission to use as reference.

The outer box would be color-shifting, much like the U.S.S. Relativity; it would be a metal box with chameleon paint, shifting between blue, aqua, and purple. It is sealed by a magnetic latch, which would be the department badge for the Temporal Integrity Commission.

Inside the box would be a replica Star Trek Voyager tricorder, with working lights and sounds. Also there would be a limited edition film strip from one of the 12 time traveling episodes, set on a film-strip lighting device for better viewing. Then, in the middle of it all is the PADD DVD Casing...

Typically, PADD's in star trek are silver/aluminum colored, but I opted for powder-blue. Anyways, this PADD DVD case would have electronic lights, and switches; when turned on, the screen actually powers up and would show actual episode trailers! The fat silver button would actually be a speaker! And on the side of the PADD would be DVD trays for the discs to come out. The color of the DVD designs are modeled after the uniform colors.

Man... I would so buy this if it came out. hahaha...

I'd buy it, but you should seriously consider altering the arrowhead to the sideways one used by the Relativity crew. That makes sense if this is, as you say, reference material from the viewpoint of the Relativity :)

Can we buy everything but the crappy Voyager episodes?

And wasn't Voyager shot on video? How would you get filmstrips?

You're absolutely correct on this; I just opted out for a more recognizable logo for consumers, but then again, I guess it shouldn't matter if someone is already trying to purchase a DVD collection as esoteric as the time-travel related episodes of Voyager!

Looks expensive. But cool.
Yeah, you're right, but the concept was an unlimited budget. If this was to go into actual concept production, the outer box would probably be some kind of foil-print cardboard, a hollow mold of a tricorder, and the PADD dvd case would probably just be a regular 3-disc-holding dvd case with PADD graphics on it. HOWEVER, that's really catering to American dvd production standards, where it's about quick turn around design and cheap production. Overseas, specifically in Japan, special DVD packaging is given more time, care, and a much larger budget because not only is the selling point going to be higher, but the quantity is going to be much more limited!

As for Voyager and film strips, I wasn't aware of that. But whatever. It's just an idea.

Edit: Btw, I FRIGGIN LOVE THE VOYAGER SERIES! And the time travel episodes were always my favorite! TIMELESS?!?!?! HELL YES.
