Nice! The son also rises! :p

Knew the son would make a deal.

Looks like we have another CTU mole. Sigh.

I liked the episode. Badass Bauer, Josef rising to the occassion, and the performance of Das Father carried the episode well.

Well, that was a good episode.

Much better, Jack got three kills in and some real development with the plot (looks like were entering the next storyline) and it looks like the completely lame Starbuck storyline is winding down.

This was an improvement over last week. Business seems to be picking up a bit with the rogue Russian son taking the rods and Starbuck planning to take out Redneck DiCaprio.

Seeing Kevin die isn't going to be any more fun than the idiot general in Avatar, but it's all the subplot will give us so I'm up for it. :p

Let's hope so--the Dana Walsh storyline is not only mind-numbingly predictable, it's simply boring and every time it comes up each episode crashes to a thudding halt pacing-wise. At this point I don't even care about Dana, her job, whether she goes back to prison or the status of her relationship with Cole. Worst part of the season so far IMO.

Jack killing his torturer and the ensuing gun fight was great though.:techman:

Bad

So we have the obligatory Jack torture scene, the obligatory give the bad guy immunity scene, and the obligatory CTU shows up and nothing is there pretty much sending us back to Square one scene. Where does that all lead us. Well, back to square one, causing those weeks of cover and stuff like that to be absolutely meaningless. You have got to be kidding me about this season. By this time last season I think you had Renee starting to kick ass in the white house, a death of a good guy, and a pretty decent white house hostage scene. I'm getting a little tired of what they are trying to do. Every time the writers advance the story, they reverse it pretty much at the end of the episode and it's getting really annoying.

Granted, I liked the Jack scenes of escape and the kill counter going up, but good god this episode, given the trailer from last week and the fact that this season has been meandering, was a huge disappointment.

188 kills in 7 days plus 14 kills in Redemption.
The most people Jack killed were on day 4 with a count of 44.
I haven's seen day four yet, but did Jack had some kind of super-weapon to kill so many people? Maybe like a fuel tanker?

So Jack kills 27 people per day on average which means we still have at least 20 to go.

Kill counts taken from http://bauerkillcount.com/day-4

I can't imagine there is a single person on this planet who kills so many people in such a short amount of time like Jack does.
And I mean single-handily.

To be fair, 24 -for some time now- has always had these plot reverses making the entire last segment meaningless but this reverse is one of the more clumbsier ones they've had in awhile.

And, yeah, in D7 the pacing was much better, the reverses better concealed and bit more was going on. I'm still not clear on what this season's villians endgame is or even who this season's villians are and were 8-hours into the "day"!

This season needs to pick up. It started off pretty good but it's starting to enter S6 territory. (Which after a recent re-watch wasn't as terrible as I remembered, but still the weakest season.)

Actually, I think Josef's plot twist makes great organic sense. He was minimally on board with his father at the beginning of the season, defied Papa when he took Oleg to the doctor, was horrified when the lackeys cut the kid off from his medicine and dragged him back to the restaurant, and then you could see him shut down when Papa killed Oleg. His betrayal of his father comes from a deeply logical place: he is so totally DONE with Papa, and is letting his disappointment and grief take over. I find this much easier to follow than the continual unravelling of layers to reveal the next Big Bad.

Also? I know this is an unpopular opinion but I'm really on board with Dana's slow burn. She's a computer tech, not an agent, so I wouldn't expect her to have just taken Kevin out right off the bat. But now, she's had several hours of being manipulated, and knows there's no way they're going to leave her alone. There's a sense of growing horror and desperation that, I hope, will result in Kevin and the other guy getting their heads blown off.

I love the way they played the "President of the United States wants to talk to you" line. Sergei's face was priceless. Now that he knows how much power Jack has, I wonder if he'll cooperate against his only remaining son.

Wait?! She went to the strip club?

How fucking stupid is she?

Blonde, blonde...

Are we finally gonna see Kevin get splashed? I wanted to start a pool on what hour it would happen in!

From the small preview I don't think he becomes road Pizza, ( It looked like Starbuck had the intention of running him down?) in the next hour, but she's caught.

I thought Jacks kill count was up to about 7 or 8.
On another note it looked like last nights hr was filmed differently, it sure looked different on my 47", almost like the kaleidoscope style I used to see some of the old Twilight Zone shows in.

Good

One of the better episodes of the season. Also glad that Starbuck is about to deal with her situation head on.

Yeah, this was a complete rehash of the previous season and probably other seasons.
