"5 Fast 5 Furious" or "Fa5t and Furiou5" = "Fast Five"

Universal is going to shoot Fast Five, the fifth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise later this year for a 2011 release, according to Variety. Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are returning, as is the writer (Chris Moran) and director (Justin Lin) of the last two movies.

Since Fast and Furious was the highest-grossing movie of the franchise and Vin Diesel's career didn't exactly go the direction he thought it would, they're going to keep pumping out these movies. Of course, Tokyo Drift proved the title is enough to drive sales without Diesel or Walker.

I still have to see the 4th one, but Tokyo Drift, from the writer/director combo, was easily the best of the first three, so I'm up for that.

Wish they could ditch Paul Walker though...

I wonder if it would make sense to watch Tokyo Drift fourth since Fast & Furious actually takes place before it (for no other reason than to bring back a character who died, who first appeared in... Better Luck Tomorrow?).

I hope they keep making sequels to these films for the rest of my life, I love these titles...

...still haven't seen any of the films, but I love the titles.

Drift 3 Tokyo Trio was decently entertaining as a stupid movie. But 4 Fast 4 Furious was stupid beyond redemption. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The rifftrax is mandatory. I've not seen the first two, and from what I've heard, if I ever want to watch the first one I should just throw in Point Break for a rewatch instead.

Never knew that. Now I can watch them in order when I finally get around to seeing these movies.

I hope they minimize the CG shenanigans of the last movie and keep it on the streets. They kind of lost me once it went in the tunnels.

I thought the title would just keep getting shorter each time out.

Fast/Furious

Fastious

I guess Fast Five is shortening it.

Saw this the other day, announcement of FF:5, and will be ready to see it.
This is one of those series that is simply a guilty pleasure.
I only require a firm enough plot to hold together one sequence to the next.
I think Tokyo Drift was a good film but wish the lead had been someone else. The lead was my only weak link in that film and I don't think part two gets mentioned enough as being a good entry in the series.

So, will Vin film this before the next Riddick or XXX movie which were both getting talked about at the end of last year?
