I had been doing so well this past month at saving money that the universe repaid me by revealing a giant holes in my running pants and my heavy running gloves days before my big winter race. Good-bye $75. The new pants I got were pretty cool though... it has the Mizuno Breath-Thermo technology that takes your presperation and it has a chemical reaction with the fabric to actually start producing heat. It's pretty wild.
The new Lady Antebellum CD and the Star Trek DAC game for PC... it was only $10, so I figured that it was a decent price to try out. If it sucks, I'm not out much.
The CD version sounds good, but I want to find a tool to rip the DVD Audio version I can get the 24/48 LPCM version off the DVD via conventional DVD ripping means but I can't for the life of me get the proper 24/96 MLP version off of there.
Also, by the end of the week I will have the stuff I need to finish preparing my chilli cupboard and get on with my Naga Jolokia growing exploits:
- 250w cool CFL
- 250w warm CFL
- Reflector
- Timer
- 4x1.25m of Mylar
- Perlite (my soil is a little strong for baby plants and I want to dilute it a bit)
- pH tester
- pH up/down
Not sure if 250w CFL will be enough to get them flowering and fruiting, but I'll see how it goes. I'm growing them in a pretty small cupboard and I can't fit a two bulb reflector in there, and the cupboard isn't tall enough for HPS, the plants would end up hitting the top of the cupboard and getting scorched by it. I might end up putting some little light rigs on the walls around half way up the cupboard and putting tons of 27w CFLs in them to supplement the 250w if they're struggling.
After more than 15 years, my cheap-o 6 quart slow cooker bit the big one this weekend. And, with our annual SuperBowl party coming up -- meaning I'll be making my traditional vat o' chili -- I needed a replacement. Went for the bells and whistles this time. Hope it works as well as "Ol' Betsy" did for all those years.
