Gotta agree this one is dubious. I mean, either he's bowing for no reason whatsoever (and therefore should not be), or he's bowing because she's of Asian descent which is kind of un-PC.
If you disagree, please analyze why he has a need to bow to everyone.
Because the USA is a democracy, and its leader a representative of the people elected by the people from the people. Thus he is not your master, superior or king, he is one of you. First among equals, ideally. So he shows respect for his fellows, and his way of doing it seems to be bowing. Do you want a leader to act all superior and "better", and refuse to "lower" himself to the level of the people?
Do you remember when bush kissed a Saudi prince and then held hands with him like they're two star-crosssed teenage lovers after the Spring Formal?
Maybe if you have such a problem with my asking about Obama bowing you should not be doing the same with regard to 43?

I see bowing as less "severe" than kissing another man and holding hands with him. Especialy when the man being kissed and held is a Saudi Prince.
Nevertheless, you missed my point which was that if you're going to criticize Obama for doing something as simple as a bow which is as harmless as a handshake then one wonders how you view a President who also bows to world leaders -as show in other pics above- but also holds hands with one and kisses one.

I think it's moronic for any U.S. President to do. Including GWB.

But why? You keep operating from the assumption that it's a subservient gesture when plenty of people are telling you it's not.
Even so, the President is a servant of the people. Hell, he's the Lead Servant!

Well, the President is probably using one of those other definitions.I think it's moronic for any U.S. President to do. Including GWB.

That's their opinion and they're entitled to it. I happen to agree with Webster's: to bend the head, body, or knee in reverence, submission, or shame.
Now, there are several other definitions as well, but this is certainly one of them. One that I don't believe is appropriate for the President.
I want my President to show the world he's not to be trifled with. I want MY President to flat-out punch people squarethefuckinthenose. I'm talking just cold-cock people. Then, they'll know to respect MY President and understand that the US means business.
Well there's your problem. Now, there are several other definitions as well...

Yes, reverence is pretty horrible.

Yeah, interesting that TLS would choose the one that foments offense, instead of the one that obviously fits the situation.
Maybe it's the one Rush told him to use.
