^ I agree with Dennis. Try to watch on a big screen, with theater-like conditions. It's not a 'great' movie, but it was intended to be BIG in scope and in content. GR was going for Trek ala '2001'. Please post after you have seen it with your fresh perspective.

I very much agree, TMP is one of my least favorite stories as it has always felt like an overblown version of an episode of TOS that I do enjoy. However, I'd say it was the best of the films to see on the big screen. I haven't felt any of the later films to be films needing a theater size screen the way TMP does.
