I was going to grade this a little above average but Wersching's performance at the end pulled this episode up. Great job by Wersching, once again showing why she should have been nominated last year.

Not really feeling this Russian storyline. It's like we're already caught in the mid-season molasse.

I guess he doesn't need to worry about the thumb anymore.

Geez, what's up with the abusive treatment of the women? I half-expect Morris to start slapping Chloe after drinking from losing his job.

I'm grading this episode "good", it'd be an excellent if not for the lame Starbuck and boyfriend storyline.

Red's little speech in the last minute was damn good, she delivered it very well and it was down-right gripping.

Aces and kudos to her.

I grade this episode Good.

Excellent performance by Annie Wersching, but the Starbuck subplot brings the episode down from an excellent.

I graded this episode average, and the only reason for that was because of Renee's speech at the end. Other than that, this show is starting to head back into Season 6 territory of "When can this get a little closer to home because currently I don't care." I don't watch this show to just see Jack in a car the whole time. The show works when he's actually doing something, and the seasons that have worked have made it personal between whoever the bad guy is and him. I like Renee, so that speech at the end was very good, but I wonder if they kept showing the clock because this episode was so slow. Maybe it was a way to watch how much time was left until this episode was over.

Hopefully Renee's speech is a start of something interesting and things can pick up because that episode wasn't all that great.

Wersching's performance at the end raised this one up to an "average" for me. The Starbuck trailer trash B.S. is absolutely killing any momentum the show's trying to build. Five episodes in and that arc shows zero signs of being interesting.

Kill Starbuck and leave her dead this time! Or, make her an angel/illusion of Chloe's... either way. :p
I hate the blackmail storylines... it really makes CTU look like idiots.

Well according to what I've seen, and saw in comments, they pretty much are idiots, at least as far as management goes.

At the very least at least they made Starbuck's criminal past take place when she was a minor that gives it at least a bit more credibility that the government check wouldn't have turned up anything. Minor's records are sealed shut so nothing would have shown up during a routine criminal check, or even a very detailed one, unless the checker had a reason to specifically check for a criminal record as a minor. Even the military doesn't check that deep. Although maybe CTU should.

Her storyline still sucks and I change the channel when it's on, but hopefully it will be over soon. But I doubt it. In fact all of the extra storylines suck this season (no surprise) the President's (both of them) storyline is boring as well.

At least the main plot is going okay, I just wish Jack had more to do then follow behind in a car and talk on a phone. But I am sure they will make up for that later.

5 episodes and he's only killed 3 people? really?

1) Have any of the 24 writers apologized for the white trash criminal past subplot yet? This might actually be worse than Driscoll's psycho daughter or McGill's crack whore sister.

2) This new backstory for Renee doesn't work. There's no way she'd be all shiny and naive during season seven if all this crap had happened to her. She'd be a grizzled undercover operative.
