O'Brien out, Leno back in?

I hadn't really thought about studio space, but Fox does Fox News Channel out of New York don't they?

The LA thing would make the most sense, Conan's not able to go to the air until September 1st or whatever, but I'm sure he's able to negotiate and come up with a deal before then. I'm sure some of the staff that moved bought homes when they moved to LA and in this kind of housing market selling them would be hard so he'd probably try to stay in LA as part of that aspect.

Which I understand, although I really liked the vibe in NY more
 
Conan's invested too much in LA to move back. His daughter is in school plus all the staff who moved to LA.

Then there's the 10 million dollar home he bought 10 months ago.
 
I just want to add a few more thaughts. I'm 30 years old and grew up during the Carson era, my mom would let me stay up late on friday's to watch Carson and I loved him from an early age, I thought he was the funniest person alive. She also let me watch SNL too during the 80's and Eddie Murphy was my favorite cast member until Dana Carvey came along. Anyway someone mentioned earlier that Conan was sort of like the older generation's Carson and I have to say that I grew up with Carson and Letterman and my generation never liked Leno. Leno has alway's been for the older crowd, like my parents and Carson was maybe for the same crowd,but he was alway's able to adapt and apeal to younger people. Carson had something that Leno dosen't and that's comedic genous. For anyone to think that Leno didn't play a role in this whole thing that's ludicris, he may not have orchestrated it,but he certanely didn't stop it. He should have accepted his failure and moved on. He is an acessery to the crime. After Carson left I folled Dave because he was more in tune with my sense of humor and I watched his show pretty regualarly until the Daily Show came along. After Dave i would alway's turn to Conan and then go to bed. Once the daily Show came on I usually watched the Daily Show then to Conan, so I watched South park in between or Sienfeld. In about 2004/2005 I stopped watching because of the Colbert Report, but I was exited about him going to the Tonite Show and i watched the 10th aniversery thingwhich was hilarious. During the strike I watched Conan and the Daily Show and Colbert in support, but afterwards I got away from Conan agian. I feel guilty now, but I have to say that I grew up in a strange time where some of the old gaurd from the 60's and 70's still existed with the new gaurd from the 80's and 90's and I loved both. Conan is like Carson, but for me I feel the same about both, it's the end of an era. The new gaurd from the 90's and 00's is the old gaurd, but there's really nobody to oversee things, so hopefully Conan will pick back up and get back where he left off. It seems to me we are in some sort of strange limbo in all forms of entertainment. Leno will get his one way or another, his raitings will tank and eventually NBC will be forced to get rid of him hopefully sooner rather than later. I also hope that the Hollywood actors that suport Conan will stick with the idea of not going on Leno's show.

I doubt there's anything he *could* have done to stop it. He goes where NBC says. NBC's the villain here, not him.

He's done this to Letterman. This is not the first time Jay Leno has taken the place of those more qualified.
 
^ But as I said, Leno himself was not *personally* at fault for that. It was the network that made the move. They chose him over Letterman (and, now, Conan).
 
^ If the network says otherwise, then that's it, really. It doesn't matter what Leno *or* Conan think. They do what NBC says, or they're out of a job.
 
^ Meh, I think Leno *is* funny. I'm glad he got the show back. Not that I don't care what happens to Conan, 'cos I do; OTOH, I just prefer Leno's style of humor.
 
Conan's final scores big in the ratings...

This was his last night, of course, after a contentious parting from NBC, and his fans, many of whom had rallied around him this week, flocked to the show. In preliminary national late-night ratings, Mr. O’Brien scored a booming 7 household rating, which was almost triple the number he had been averaging for months in that measure.


More impressive was the number for 18-to-49-year-old viewers — the gold standard for NBC because advertisers seek to reach that audience. There, in overnight numbers from the country’s 25 largest cities, Mr. O’Brien hit an extraordinary rating, a 4.8.


Not only would that be by far the biggest rating in that age group for any kind of show at any time Friday night (if it holds up as a national rating and it will probably decrease only slightly), it is also a better number than almost every prime-time show that has appeared on NBC this television season.


In the current television week, only three entertainment shows on television — “American Idol” on Fox and CBS’s two Monday comedies, “Two and a Half Men” and “The Big Bang Theory” — have exceeded a 4.8 rating in that younger adult group.

Jay Leno has hundreds of millions of dollars. He does not need a job anymore. The only reason to do it is personal ambition. So if he really cared about what was right, rather than personal ambition, he would have declined to take Conan's timeslot and left the network.
