not sure exactly who wrote the article its either Sky or Yahoo, but as well as not being ginger, the Doctor is also not a doll

"I'm not a doll. I'm still not ginger," he cried.
I have rewatched the regeneration aftermath, and the Doctor does say "girl", im not sure which is funnier that the Doctor expressing disappointment in not being ginger, being offensive to red heads, or that in an article talking about it, they misquote the Doctor like that.

Seriously does no one check anything at Sky News anymore?

Firstly, you say you don't know where that story came from, so why at the end make that comment about Sky News?

Secondly, you read Yahoo News? By that very admission I think any News thread you create should be instantly closed, but that's just me!

well its either from Yahoo or Sky News, im not sure it has both logos on it, I think its Sky News posted on Yahoo news.

As for why I was reading Yahoo news, I was reading another story on there from a link, and then read this Doctor Who story, I dont regularly read Yahoo News

who wrote it is not really the point, I just wonder how lets an article with such an amusing mistake in it, go to print.

Well as you didn't know who wrote the story, that's why Captaincalhoun let you know.

And that's an easy answer, Sky don't put as much effort into their online content, they don't have sub editors looking through the copy and with that, it's one minor story out of hundreds that are posted each day.

So on the whole, nothing to get worked up about.

...after parents of red-headed children complained.
Wonder if that means the parents are more sensitive than people with red hair. As in, they saw the comment for what it really was.

Someone's blowing smoke up our butts. There's no mention in that link about the doll thing. The ginger thing, yes, but not the doll thing.

And personally the first time I heard the line I thought he said Goth, which at least made sense. My misunderstanding lasted up to the point where he checked for an Adam's apple, so about 2/10 of a second.

What's wrong with Yahoo! News?
Nothing at all; they're a news aggregator, not a news producer. Any criticism of the stories they carry should be directed at those who originally published them, not Yahoo! for "reprinting" it.

See, I was under that impression myself, but this isn't the first time that I've heard someone turn their nose up at Yahoo! News so I thought maybe there was something that I didn't know.

Well it might just be people turning their noses up as Yahoo as a news magpie who nab news reports generated by others and palm them off as their own?

You're exactly on the button here.

Yes I may be elitist in this view point and when studying at University we all "borrowed" news from other outlets and yes, part of news gathering is seeing what the competition is reporting on, but still, all those points are well, beside the point. There is nothing journalistic about taking copy straight from one site and putting in your "news" section and claiming it's yours regardless if you have the logo of the original outlet somewhere on the page. So yes, when I see a "news" article linked from either Yahoo, MSN or some other joke of a news supplier (yes I'm thinking of the Daily Fail and Fox to name but two) I will roll my eyes and move on.

You understand that pretty much every newspaper in the world does exactly the same thing with national and international news, right?

and entertainment news/celeb gossip. Hell, I've even seen it done with sports news. Gerrard gets interviewed in Nuts, Daily Mirror cribs a chunk and slaps in a big photo of him and then bungs an ad for the mag in at the end...
