After his fall in Logopolis the fifth Doctor vowed never to waste another regeneration due to the pull of a gravity well. He thus flew the Tardis to a sufficiently advanced medical facility and infused his timelord DNA with anti-gravity-wavity-stuff. His DNA passes to each new regeneration.

Works for me.

And the Master didn't seem to have much respect for gravity in the first installment...

I'd have hated the parachute idea because the Doctor would have landed pretty safely. I liked the smash through the skylight and fall to the floor, it's the several mile fall to the skylight that annoyed me. Ok if the gravity beam idea doesn't work he could have at least parked the ship a few metres above the skylight?
But at the short range that The Doctor jumped from, the parachute would have only slowed down his descent marginally, but enough for me to believe he (or any human) wouldn't be killed from crashing through the skylight. I do like the smash through the skylight, but I have a hard time swallowing because of Logopolis and the large descent.

After he went through the skylight and the way he struggled to raise himself, you didn't wonder perhaps if that was possible the start of the regeneration?

I like the way you think.

Not really. Why would he then fly off the handle a bit at Wilf if he was going to die anyway?

Maybe because he thought he would actually did instead of just regenerate

Doesn't really matter. According to this Doctor, dying and regenerating may as well be the same thing.

Well, I was a little behind everyone else, but thanks to Emh, I finally caught up over the last couple of days. I watched Planet of the Dead, Waters of Mars, and The End of Time.

As for The End of Time, I thought it was brilliant! A little confusing perhaps, but brilliant nonetheless. The bits at the end as he visited Rose and Martha, etc. were very nicely done. Plus we got Donna and Timothy Dalton in one episode...what's not to like?

I think Tennant was fantastic as The Doctor. I will miss him.

:techman:

At that moment. Obviously, after he got up and walked around, the fall hadn't killed him, but after he hit the ground.

And, honestly, I didn't. That'd be a little anticlimactic. On the other hand, he was so worried about tripping over a brick...

"I survived a 100 ft fall OH I'M VERY GOOD!"

Getting Cocky

*Wilf Knocks four times*

"No........IT'S NOT FAIR!"

The Tenth Doctor had to die because he was getting too cocky/too sure of himself.

"Sometimes I think a Timelord lives too long"

The moral is that living too long will corrupt you and ultimately lead to your own destruction.

But... but.. but...
the Tenth Doctor was only six - or less if you count the half-regen in season 4!;)

They should have had the Master kill Rassilion and have him regenerate into Pierce Brosnan....

Yeah, why not. It was pretty much a pantomime anyway.

You know what, after reading The Writers Tale: The Final Chapter, I am seriously wondering what you study at university Bones and when you'll bring back a half dead sci fi programme and make it one of the most successful fictional programmes going.

Hit a nerve have I? Do you know full well you wouldn't be able to do Rusty's job (I know I couldn't) so you're too afraid to answer it? Or are you embarrassed as to what you do at university? Tell you what, if you are, I'll let you know what I did. At college I did Media Production at University I did Broadcast Journalism.

You didn't hit a nerve at all. I just thought you were making a twit of yourself.

As to whether I could do Rustbucket's job, I don't know. Either way, it doesn't make him immune to legitimate criticism.

to be honest, I don't care if I make a twit of myself.

And you think what you say, bigoted, homophobic and generally narrow minded tosh is legitimate criticism?

I think you're confusing me with my straw man.

Of course it doesn't, though "It was pretty much a pantomime anyway" is not "legitimate criticism", it's entry-level internet smartassery.
It's how I feel. It just reached that level of colourful nonsense.

Of course I am. You must have a doppelgänger who comes on here whose sexist and homophobic because you've never said anything against female comedians or "the gays" have you?
