It occurs to me that department stores also often have a distributed checkout system, with many small cashiers scattered throughout the store, to reduce the distance you're expected to carry goods before you can get a bag for them.
I could see the novelty of that wearing off after ive been on them a few times. Great for tourist spots, but if it was my local shopping centre, after 2 or 3 goes, I would switch back to the escalator. This video shows the change in people's behaviour when piano stairs were inroduced in a building in Sweden
fair point, some parents might try and find a way up without going near those stairs to avoid the hassle.Maybe so, but I imagine that someone with small kids would have to always use them.
How do your shops get there carts to the next floorYou have an excalator for your shopping carts???![]()
Upstairs in the supermarket is where they sell clothes ,PCs,TVs and all other electrical goods and down stairs is for food toys ect and some have post offices there has well.^I'm just trying to picture how much stuff a grocery store would have to stock to justify that.
.
Tesco in Hucknall which is in Nottinghamshire.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermaport <--- about trolley escalator, I would like to see one in action however. Where in England are these things located?
I think Land costs more in the UK.How do your shops get there carts to the next floorYou have an excalator for your shopping carts???![]()

You're pretty much describing Walmart, in which case they only have one floor.
I've never seen a two-story grocery store.

It doesn't matter if you have along umbrella or not...this is one of the most annoing things I've seen. ou just pick it up...it's that simple.I can't say I have ever seen anyone dragging an umbrella like that but most people in Tasmania use smaller umbrellas with retractable handles. My umbrella folds up small enough to fit in my handbag.
Don't get me started! There are 2 branches of the gym in this city that have escalators and I'd say about 90% of the people stand still on them!
Yeah, that's Takishimaya.Hmm. There was a mall in Taipei that I went to where the basement and the first five floors were accessible by both escalator and elevator. However, the next 6 floors or so were parking lots and the 12th floor -- which housed fancy restaurants and a bookstore -- was only reachable by elevator.
Maybe the people in line were doing this?
