Really Really Really Lazy!

ive never been to a supermarket with an escalator that is big enough to take a trolley, what does one look like? is it a long flat one which goes up a gentle slope, or like the traditional escalator with bigger steps

Hmm, I might vaguely recall some musical stairs in Singapore....but it's been a long time since I was there.

I know there's a musical staircase at the Museum of Science Boston.

It occurs to me that department stores also often have a distributed checkout system, with many small cashiers scattered throughout the store, to reduce the distance you're expected to carry goods before you can get a bag for them.

I've always figured that this was so that you'd have less time to second guess your decision and put the item down before you paid for it. Maybe I'm just too cynical...

This video shows the change in people's behaviour when piano stairs were inroduced in a building in Sweden

I could see the novelty of that wearing off after ive been on them a few times. Great for tourist spots, but if it was my local shopping centre, after 2 or 3 goes, I would switch back to the escalator.

I think the longest escalator I was ever on was at the Pentagon; that one was pretty big. :rommie:

You have an excalator for your shopping carts??? :wtf:
How do your shops get there carts to the next floor:confused:
^I'm just trying to picture how much stuff a grocery store would have to stock to justify that.

.
Upstairs in the supermarket is where they sell clothes ,PCs,TVs and all other electrical goods and down stairs is for food toys ect and some have post offices there has well.

You're pretty much describing Walmart, in which case they only have one floor.

I've never seen a two-story grocery store.

The Ikea nearest to me is 4 floors and they have a big Cart escalator, it's handy.

I now want to paint the stairs in my house like a piano. I should do it.

I think Land costs more in the UK.

Probably. You don't have as much of it.

I can't say I have ever seen anyone dragging an umbrella like that but most people in Tasmania use smaller umbrellas with retractable handles. My umbrella folds up small enough to fit in my handbag.

It doesn't matter if you have along umbrella or not...this is one of the most annoing things I've seen. ou just pick it up...it's that simple.

Hmm. There was a mall in Taipei that I went to where the basement and the first five floors were accessible by both escalator and elevator. However, the next 6 floors or so were parking lots and the 12th floor -- which housed fancy restaurants and a bookstore -- was only reachable by elevator.

Maybe the people in line were doing this?

Yeah, that's Takishimaya.
