Spider Man Reboot - Your Cast & Plot?

I hope they do mechanical webshooters this time. I doubt it, but it'd be cool.

Um, no. That was done in the TV series and it sucked ass.

Um, no. That was done in the comics since the beginning.

The fact that Peter Parker has a gifted intellect - to the point where people like Reed Richards and Tony Stark are impressed by him - was largely ignored by the Maguire/Raimi movies yet is an important characteristic. I see no need to dumb him down just so people in the audience can feel more "in touch" with him.

Haven't the comics done both -- mechanical web shooters as well as organic?

Yes, they have. While the original story had him have mechanical web shooters - and he would run out of web fluid in some critical situations too, during JMS' run as the main writer on The Amazing Spider-man title, he did a story where Peter is "re-birthed" and this time with organic webshooters - this was all part of his "The Spider" focussed storylines.

Spider-man started off with mechanical web-shooters and that was the status quo for decades. I think the blacksuit's webbing was part of the costume. IIRC they switched to organic after the first movie.

Traditionally, the web shooters were mechanical. They were replaced by the black symbiote costume for a while.

There was a short period where he has organic webshooters after the Avengers Disassembled storyline (not the "The Other" storyline which had other effects on his powers). This and all other changes to his core set of powers have since been retconned away by the "One More Day"/"Brand New Day" storyline.

The web shooters became organic, ironically, because Marvel wanted to bring the comics more in to line with the movies.

Mechanical web shooters have their own way of connecting Parker with the audience. One common theme is him not being able to afford the chemicals needed to make more web-fluid. He would also occasionally reformulate his web-fluid in order to make it more effective against certain enemies - like Hydro-Man for instance.

Ultimate Spidey uses mechanical webs, using a formula he completed from his father's work. that i could buy. he also frequently bitches about the cost of webbing and in the 'Hollywood' arc, in which Raimi, Maguire and Avi Arad cameo, Doc Ock mentions that he had initially surmised the webs were organic.

i want Liz Allen as the love interest.

Would anyone buy Topher Grace as Spidey & Laura Prepon as MJ???

Since Topher was in Spider-Man 3 as Eddie Brock/Venom. I like Laura Prepon is prettier and a better actress compaired to Kirsten Dunst

It won't be the same the reboot like the previous Spiderman films will it I hope it remains true to what has came before

I hope Spider man rides a motorcycle this time.
Fuck, I hope this to be true.

I think the problem with doing comedic...is the timing has to be perfect and very witty. That was a major downfall for Raimi's Spider-Man is the comedic acts of Spidy were very wooden and hollow. They weren't organic and didn't flow well.

How about Betty Brant as well?

I liked the J. Jonah Jameson in the last movie.

^They'll probably recast JJJ which is the saddest part of all this. Choosing J.K. Simmons for the role was the best bit of casting in any comic book movie so far.

I don't know why everyone wants Peter to be in high school; personally I would have an older Peter, in his early to mid twenties, graduating from college and balancing not only his superhero life but his personal life from the very beginning. Kind of like Spider-Man 2 in the beginning. Just throw the viewer in there.

The movie should begin with him having witty banter with a common thug robbing a bank and him riffing on the fact he's late for a job interview. The job interview is with Curt Conner at Empire State University. Conner isn't mad that Parker is late because he's used to Parker running a few minutes behind and it gave him time to talk to Norman Osborn as Norman is starting up a research facility with Oscorp and Osborn wants Conner to head up the department. Conner declines causing Osborn to be a little bit irritable as Osborn always get his man but Conner likes teaching.

Parker is also good friends with Norman's son Harry, who manages a coffee shop near the university. He also has a steady girlfriend in Gwen Stacy. His next door neighbor has gone to Hollywood, Mary Jane Watson. (she should only come in at the end of the 2nd movie!)

Essentially it should show the rise of the Green Goblin, a momentary villain in the Lizard but friend in Curt Conner, the steady relationship between Gwen and Peter, Peter's struggle with responsibilities along with Harry's responsibilities as an Osborn.

Key scenes should be Norman's...disapproval of Harry running a coffee shop as it is beneath him. Norman's growing insanity due to a botched break in to Conner's lab exposing him to some off chemical of the super human formula (which also causes Conner to become the Lizard as he is trying to regrow back his arm and is testing and working with the former super human formula that created Cap).

I think in the 2nd movie, Green Goblin is a manipulative force in all of this but is rarely seen on screen. He finds out who Spider - Man really is, and in the end kills not only Gwen Stacy in a scene where she is thrown off a bridge but also his own son, Harry as the Green Goblin (not Norman) believes he is not up to snuff to become the next great Osborn and when sending him to Europe for a 'business' trip, destroys the plane. It's a darker movie but I think at the end, Mary Jane Watson should show up at Gwen's funeral to support Peter and tell him that if he needs anything she'll help him as Gwen was her friend too. Peter also breaks down but it makes him more determined to be Spider - Man. As for the bad guys, I would think Mysterio and another few others should be used as well.

They're also a major believability problem.

Set aside the idea of whether or not Peter is Reed Richards genius level.

Imagine you're Peter. You've just invented a sticky fluid that dissolved after an hour and a way to deliver said fluid. This has major industrial and military applications

What do you do?

You can patent it, let a company like OsCorp produce it, and get rich off the royalties. Your elderly aunt can live out her days in luxury in, say, Florida.

Or, you can decide to become a costumed super-hero, get the crap beat out of you on a regular basis, and let your elderly aunt continue to live her lower middle class lifestyle.

Tell me that Peter's not an idiot. :)

Organic webshooters take that problem away.
