the ANDREW PROBERT RULES! thread

besides incredible talent, I personally am moved that he makes himself so accessible to us here, at the TrekBBS. Thank you for that , too, Mr. Probert.

Yeah, having bothered him with a few questions of my own from time to time, I have to jump on the bandwagon and avow that Mr. Probert is a genius and an all-around class act.

Hats off, Commodore! :techman:

Probert's stuff is fantastic! I wish his sense of aesthetics had held more sway over the course of TNG. No offense to Sternbach and Okuda, but I think Probert's ideas seemed much more futuristic while still looking practical.

Mr. Probert has also contributed to Star Trek: Phase II, and will appear in the upcoming release of Kitumba.

It was his designs and sketches that got me so excited for TNG back in the spring of 1987 when they had that column each month in Starlog magazine about the upcoming show.

I totally remember those!

I used to read each part about 40 times. I remember the first part where they had a pic of Gene Roddenberry looking at a little mock up of the bridge holding a Mickey Mouse figure (I guess they were using it for scale) I must've analyzed that picture for hours.
I remember there was tease where David Gerrold said he'd tell us about the new science officer in the next issue.

Probert does some awesome pictures in the Ships of the Line calendars. Especially the Romulan warbird at spacedock in this year's calendar.

I love all his designs for the areas of the E-D that we never got to see, like cetacean operations. It makes me wish they hadn't blown her up in generations so we could have seen more.

Just wonder if they saved the dolphins or not!

I guess they did, as I seem to recall the cetacean area was in the saucer and that landed relatively safely.

Probert single handedly designed the most beautiful ship in Sci-Fi history, the Enterprise D.

So even though he is not a god, he comes very very close to being one :)

I loved the story about how the stunt pilots told him that the bell helicopter flew better after probert's changes were done.
