It's about time. All those chubby holiday fatties have been cramping my online dating style. We beautiful people should be free to pursue dates from the privacy of our computers without all you holiday-poundage hog thumpers trying to slide by with excessive yuletide nog pouches.

Not exactly. eHarmony was forced to provide services to gay customers. The only reason this site can get away with it is because discrimination on the basis of appearance isn't illegal.

I know they were sued, I'm just wondering *how* a privately owned, entirely optional website can be sued. If it's legal for the Boy Scouts, for example, to discriminate, then why is eHarmony being targeted?

And again: Don't confuse my question with an advocacy of discrimination. Like I said, I'm glad eHarmony was forced to do this. I'm just wondering how the legal maneuvering worked here.

How the hell can eHarmony get sued for this? If they only want to hook up straight people, that is their right. It's not like there aren't gay dating sites out there.

Now, if they were hiring/firing staff members based on sexual orientation, that would be a whole different story.
