Remastered TOS fx

I'm watching it on Cbs and while I love TOS whats up with the new effects? It kills the mood. One thing I greatly admire about TOS is the 60s aesthetic and then they go and ruin it with 00s cgi! I want bad fx, I like them, they have more character, instead I get prisitine 00s cg approximations to what the fx were like in the 60s. Bah.

yeah but all they'll sell now are the remastered versions, all they'll show on tv will be the remastered versions. They should have left it alone. It reminds me of the neoclassicists ruining Shakespeare.

I like both! If you purchase TOS on blueray you get both the original FX and the remastered FX and all three seasons are very good I might add. The packaging is so much better too!

Not true, possibly, and no.

They needed to do this, it's working for them. They did it well enough to make a lot of people happy. There are people for whom they could not possibly have done it well enough, and those folks are doomed to be constant complainers no matter what.

I'll never stop loving those old special effects, but I was actually quite surprised and then pleased at how nicely the updated effects were integrated into the show. It didn't feel overwhelming to me at all.

If you look about, especially online places like ebay, they still sell TOS on DVD with the old effect which were released in 3 DVD boxsets way back in 2004.

You know, as much as I enjoy a lot of the Remastered episodes for the effects and particularly the improved image, I'm not yet tempted to buy the sets - I've been watching the original versions long enough, and have sufficient sentimental attachment to them, that owning them is about as much TOS as I need right now.

I probably would feel the same way if I had started out with the original versions on DVD. I kind of feel bad for anyone who felt obligated to double dip on purchasing the remastered sets while already owning the original versions, even though there was a few years between them.

Because I know everything. Its simply economics, they put money into the remastered versions, they want these to sell.

Back to the matter at hand, the fx suck ass. They are so cg, its a total insult, its the vfx artists attitude that they know better and so will plaster all their crappy moden fx onto a classic, its outraageeeous. They've ruined it, its a rude interruption of modernity into classicism.

Do you understand what the ad ad hominem fallacy is? Insults do nothing to bolster your argument. They will phase out the original versions, trust me, I know.
