TREK new year's eve?

So do any of you have any STAR TREK related evens scheduled for tonight?

I went out and got STAR TREK SCENE it, so we will be doing that...my wife has requested to watch HIS WAY (DS9) as well....and if my friend mike makes it over, we might watch THE ULTIMATE COMPUTER cgi-version, which neither of us has seen yet..

So..what about you? :techman:

As I posted in the TNG thread we intended to watch TNG and see the New Year in but ended up spending all night on World of Warcraft.

Last year we were watching ENT season 3 on New Years.

^It ain't rok egg blood pie!

I am doing my usual, as of recent years... staying home with my invalid mother.

I'll probably put ST09 in and watch it again, perhaps with commentary. I haven't done that yet.

Teacake, I love your avatar. What is that pic from and what are they eating?

It is from some old article about Shatner that as in the Sun or another Brit tabloid.

They are eating canned fruit salad.. actually I have no idea what they are eating I just suddenly remembered Shatner talking about eating a lot of that when he was young and a struggling actor and how he never wanted to eat it again. I think that anecdote might be from Gerrold's "The World of Star Trek". I remember reading it as a teenager.

I apologize.
I often assume those reading my posts are literate in the English language, for better or worse.:vulcan:

Usage counts for a lot too and in common usage, "invalid" is not usually a word to be used in these situations.

Perhaps you should read more. Those of us who do tend to make use of our vocabulary. If you had PM'd me with a question about my statement, rather than publicly criticized something you know nothing about... perhaps you would not look as foolish as you did.

The OP was asking what our New Year's Eve plans were. I answered the question posed. Did you?

My son has disabilities and would also be considered invalid. It has long been widely recognized as referring to people who are differently abled; but it's wearisome and silly to have to use pc speak all the time.

I live in the USA Midwest - maybe it's more commonly used/recognized here. Maybe people who give primary care to people with disabilities recognize it as part of their daily lives.

I try to be polite, but it can be very difficult to put up with people who think they know better than a caregiver who spends many hours each day caring for a loved one.

My hat is off to you, oldstredshrtevr. It takes a special person to do what you do.

You've obviously made sacrifices for your loved one too. You know it's exhausting and worth every minute! Hugs!
