What's your favorite coffee?

My dad bought me a new coffee maker for Christmas, along with some Starbucks Winter Blend coffee. It's okay, but I'd like to try other things (something more exciting than a can of Folgers).

I'm a fan of nice bright medium blends, myself. I find most South American blends, like Ecuadorian and Colombian are usually good.

I have never liked Starbucks coffee. I think it tastes like ashes from their need to over-roast. (There are a lot of folks who would disagree though. ;))

I usually prefer something that is strong though, specifically a Kona blend (30% Kona & 70% Colombian). It makes a nice robust brew without a heavy aftertaste. I can't drink it black anymore (it gives me massive heartburn) so I take mine with a little milk, which compliments Kona nicely.

It does have a slightly burnt taste to it.

I've never brewed Starbucks at home; I normally just go when I have a craving for a mocha or something...and those are mostly milk and syrup anyway.

Timmie's! A Canadian staple.

I brew Tim Horton's at home and buy one to drink at the mall. I will, occasionally get a cappucino or a mocha latte from Starbucks when I browse Chapters.

Blasphemy! :scream:

Starbucks has a blend that they get about once a year called New Guinea Peaberry, if memory serves. I'm particularly fond of it. Verona is my next favourite.

Blasphemy! You are Canadian and must love Timmies!

Tim's coffee is bland and watery. :scream:

I don't like most of the big chains, myself. Second Cup tastes very burnt, and Starbucks is only a bit better. Timothy's World of Coffee (or whatever they're called) is generally pretty decent, however.

Whatever's hot, black and in the pot when I go downstairs in the morning. Of course, I've been known to drink vending machine coffee so I'm clearly not too picky.

Having done the barista thing, I try to get fresh beans and self grind and all that. But 99% the grocery budget says "No, no, you must buy store brand french roast".

Anything bold and strong. Sumatra is a nice standby for me. Folgers should be avoided at all costs.
Can Folgers still legally call their...beverage coffee? I thought it had been reclassified as industrial hull cleanser.

Nyah. :p

About the only time I've ever willingly drunk Timmies was when Polaris was out by the airport and it was the only coffee shop within a ten minute walk of the hotel. (There's a Williams Coffee Pub in the area, but it's on the other side of the Regal, which is too far to walk when I'm running a major department...)

Fortunately the hotel we're in now has a Starbucks in the lobby.

Yum, coffee :) We used to drink tons of it around here... till my father decided that we would all be better off with no caffeine in our diets. And what's the point of coffee after there is not caffeine? Prior to that, however, we really weren't fussy about the types of coffee we drank. Though there was this MAGNIFICENT blend sent to me by my aunt in Hawaii... I will have to find out what it was. It tasted like sunshine.

Nothing wrong with that. I actually think gas stations have the best coffee in the world!

Truckstops for, example, sometimes pride themselves on their coffee cause it'll bring business.

There used to be a mom and pop station up between Clinton TN and Knoxville TN that made the best damn burgers and a sub-sandwiches you could ever want. No premade patties, she used fresh groundbeef for each burger and formed the patty while you watched; all the sandwiches were sliced fresh, no meat laying around in a salad bar for hours on end. Big thick burger, a plate of fries, and a 20oz soda (your choice of flavor) for $3.

Gas station food gets a bad wrap sometimes.
