Who Would You Date?

She hasn't hit puberty yet.

She had breasts and had reached her maximum height, I'd say she was mature.
That's why everyones biggest question is: Is Neelix a pedophile? ;)

Besides, what were they going to do? Tape Jen Lien's breasts down & make her walk on her knees?

If they wanted to portray Kes as pre-pubescent they would have had her played by a pre-pubescent.

Although judging from when Neelix apparently met Kes, I would say he was a pedophile.

What's the deal with Vorik?!

Please explain.

Lots of Vulcanophiles here (raises hand) - you know, the whole smoldery thing.

^^^ Yeah, but ... Vorik? :vulcan:

I like 'smoldery' and logical as much as the next nerdy girl, but to me, Vorik wasn't it. Spock, yes (oh, yes, please!). Tuvok, hmm .... sometimes. Vorik? Meh. He came off to me as a particularly whiny Vulcan. I also found him physically unattractive, but that's purely a matter of taste.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Luckily, as we all know, there're plenty of cuties in Trek to go around. ;)

Then can you explain why Kes herself says the Elogium/puberty doesn't start until age 4 or 5? Kes is also alien, so her mind is more mature than her body but even by the Ocampian standards she is still a child. It's one of the complexities of the life of an Ocampia.

Still, I never thought people would take an obvious joke so seriously.

Bearing in mind that I'm a 99% straight male, I would date The Doctor. (After reprogramming him to fully emulate Leah Brahms. :bolian:)

plenty o' pretty pretty men! makes me wonder sometimes why sci fi is considered a manly domain! so many women don't know what they're missing! of course that means all the more for us!

I confess Vorik's attraction wasn't instant like the Spock Sarek Tuvok thing - he took a little time to grow on me but I won't offer up any hooey about being attracted to his mind!

^^
Dating someone between 18 and 25 can't be regarded as pedophilia.

Kes was equivalent to an 18-25 years old.
She hasn't hit puberty yet.

Oh yes, she had.

If we look at Kes, the way she looks and behaves, it's obvious that she's the equivalent of a 18-25 years old so dating someone that age can't be regarded as "pedophilia".

And we can't judge the Ocampa by our standards either since they obviously develope in a different way.

Are we still debating this?
She herself said, the Elogium isn't until she's 4 or 5.
So just because a girl looks or acts mature doesn't mean she phyically is. LOTS of young 16 year old girls look 18 or older, they're still children. Even Kes herself knows she isn't a phyically mature woman yet regardless of how she looks. Mental behavior doesn't equal phyical maturity and while I'm not accusing, that's the excuse offenders use: "Well, she looked/acted older!" Then they get the cuffs slapped on them.

I'm not judging by our standards, I'm going by what Kes herself has told us which is, she hasn't hit puberty yet.

Secondly, if it's not pedophilia, then why is the most common question: Is Neelix a pedophile for dating Kes?

B'Elanna, top of the list! She's fiery and sexy. It would never be a boring relationship. Second is Janeway. I'd like to undo her bun of steel! -- RR

I don't think hitting puberty is any measurement for maturity. I know people that hit puberty years ago and are not mature.

Ocampans probably reach adulthood well before their bodies are ready to produce children. Kes is a mature woman that hasn't hit fertility yet. Much the same way human females taking oral birth control are mature adults that are not fertile.

I once made the case that Ocampas could easily have mature thinking processes at birth owing to a mental link with the mother. It’s just a matter of the body catching up with the mind.

Kes. Since she fell hard for Neelix I trust she either has low standards or a great sense of pity. And where pity and low standards are needed I am your man.:bolian:

I doubt I would survive Belanna or Seven.

Without low standards and pity, most men wouldn't get laid, and the human race would've gone extinct! Hooray for women! :techman: -- RR

That would be all fine and good if Kes didn't refer to herself as a "little girl" as well as behave as one.(Twisted & Warlord) So Kes sees herself as still a child.

Adult women taking birth control as far as I know have still gone through puberty.

Still when the question of is Neelix a pedophile comes up at least once a year, where are all these opinions then? The replies in those posts always seem to villianize Neelix instead.

However, as I said before, I didn't think folks here would take a joke so seriously.

I think it's because he is Vulcan, there has always been women drawn to Vulcans, and it wasn't just a Spock thing. It extended to Surak and Sarak in the original series.

I can tell you what my oldest brother said after he started watching "Enterprise" - "finally a sexy Vulcan." I don't think he got it until then.

I'm a big Vulcanophile - I have a major crush on Spock in every version :adore:, I like Sarek, too, and Tuvok can be very hot, too (when he's angry/in emotional turmoil, especialy when he also happens to be wearing a tight shirt as in "Gravity") but Vorik was a wuss.
I need to see some strength and charisma in a man to find him attractive. I'm totally not into low standards and pity - so I guess, if it was up to me, human race might disappear and I wouldn't care. *shrug*

As in, finally a main character who is Vulcan and female? It's hard to think of female Vulcans who weren't sexy. T'Pring, Saavik, Selar, Sakonna... and as for males, see above.

Well, the way he talked to her and called her "sweetie" always kind of sounded like an uncle or a grandpa talking to a little girl. :vulcan:

Vorik was kind of icky.

As to hot Vulcans IMHO Soval is a masterpiece of Vulcan hottness.

Actually, it's "Sweeting".
Put the subtitles on and you'll see.
..but I agree with the rest. They never came off as a passionate love, is was more like a puppy love crush.

Lawdy! How could I have omitted Soval?!?!?! Oh yeah baby! he was Smokin'! And in the Mirrorverse w/ the goatee!!! mah oh mah oh mah!!!

Well, I'm a man, so that limits me to Seven of Nine, Kes, or Torres. Wouldn't go anywhere near Janeway.

You have to remember, The Doctor isn't really a man. "He" is Voyager's computer, and as we all know, Starfleet ships are female. A little (okay, a lot) of reconfiguring the hologram, and you could be all set. :D
