DC's Legacies Annnounced

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
A ten part series that seems to be in the vein of Marvels...that will span several decades of the history of the DCU from the Golden Age to the start of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Andy Kubert and Joe Kubert are teaming together on art duties for the fist arc, a story by J.G. Jones along with backup stories featuring top artists.Len Wein will write. Also we're going to get a new History of the DC Universe but something I'm more excited about...a new fifteen issue Who's Who!

Admiral Young, are you the one who first called our attention to this official DC blog? If so, thank you. I didn't know about it, but now I enjoy checking it out every other day.

I learned via the blog that DC is renumbering WONDER WOMAN next year, picking up at #600. It's a small gesture to acknowledge the history and legacy of Wonder Woman. To get to #600, DC is adding up all the issue counts from Vol. 1 (which started around 1942), plus Vol. 2 (started in the 1980's) plus the current Vol. 3. I like this idea. After all, the titles SUPERMAN and BATMAN have both been published continually for over 60 years and are each approaching issue #700.

Are they pushing Black Canary's debut up by a decade? She didn't show up until 1947. The New York World's Fair was in 1939.

Yeah Bad Bishop...I think I posted it first in the War of the Supermen thread. I didn't know that it existed either until this week and I learned that from Newsarama.

Is Legacies going to feature the quality level of Marvels? Or is it just a re-hash of famous story arcs?

Minstral...there are art samples on the blog I posted which is DC's official news blog and the art looks really good so yes I think they're striving for the same level of story telling quality that made Marvels so compelling.

Who's Who btw is going to be 18 issues, 38 pages, and I think DiDio said we will see the first issue hit in the summer time. I guess this means we won't get collected volumes until 2011. Don't quote me on this but I think he said over 3800 characters will be covered by the issues.

I hope they re-instate the Spectre as DC's uber-poweful hero. I hated the bearded one that showed up recently; he's a weak knee moron!!! And maybe they can finally tell the real origion of the PHANTOM STRANGER

Plus, like Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman has been published continuously (she's not like Green Lantern or Flash with any long publishing hiatus). The only reason her numbers are lower than the other two in the Trinity is because the book spent part of that time as a quarterly instead of a monthly.

Really? I never knew that.
