Honor Harrington

I like the series a lot, went through the books like a hot knife through margarine, just like I did with the original HH (Hornblower :D ). I still have to get through the two Torch books and some of the anthology stuff, I really should do that before the next book comes out.

It's still another several months till the next book. I tried to hold off, but plowed through ToF & SftS in literally days after their release.

<= No Willpower.

Would anybody like to see a movie series based on this character? From the description, and the book cover of the first edition she looks a lot like Robin Tunney, although there may be younger actors who can play this part. Got any ideas?

You missed the cover that used Michael Jackson as the model.

Nice joke, but I'm being serious. Any ideas? Or should it be an fan film production by Cawley Entertainment Company or some other independent company?

If only it was a joke.

(So glad they updated the covers of the first 5 books in paperback... Wish they'd finish up the rest 6-9.)

and would have kicked Kirk's ass after she found him hiding under her roomie's bed.

BLASPHEMY! NO ONE CAN KICK KIRK'S ASS AND LIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT!

Besides the closed thing to Harrington in Trek lit is Piper, and she's always a step behind Kirk from what I hear.

People have been kicking around actresses to play Honor ever since the books premiered. I think there's actually a website devoted to it. The worst casting I've heard so far for our exceedingly tall, half-Asian, very-young-looking leading lady was Holly Hunter.

A lot of people think Angelina Jolie in Sky Captain... looked exactly like Honor should look. But David Weber hates that idea.

Personally I've never been able to come up with anybody.
Maybe Mary Elizabeth Winstead if she's tall enough.

^That's a thing that annoys me with many authors. When people don't talk like normal people it takes you out of the story.

What an author should do is say the dialog out loud when he writes it. If it sounds like you're having a normal conversation with someone, then it's fine. If it sounds forced, stupid, too long, too contrived, etc. EDIT it, dammit!

I do that when I write posts sometime, and I think that I did it when I used to write my novel. The only problem with that is, it sounds too much like talking to yourself, especially if you don't live alone in your own apartment, but in a house, and family members will think that you are crazy.

Would have worked once, when she was younger, but now, no.

Especially since Angelina is too conscious of her sexuality, whereas Honor isn't.

I'd suggest Christy Carlson Romano as her, based on her role in the TV movie Cadet Kelly in which she played a senior cadet at a military academy.

No! She's like, three feet tall!

Jolie would be excellent.

When David Weber's sales look like J.K. Rowland's, he'll get casting approval on a movie. Until then, his choice is to either take the money - if any is ever offered - or not.
