They got a thirty year head start in trying to fgure out how to profit from a federation starship being lost in the delta Quadrant, and the if's and maybes of whether the Romulan Government got wind of the confidence carried out between Telek and Kathryn to put her crews family's peace of mind at rest was knocked out of the ball park by Deanna I think, might have been Reg, stating off hand that the Romulans had always been asking a lot of questions about Voyager..

I think it was Kim. No one could be that boring without in reality be trying to over muffle a violent and passionately homicidal emotional vista reasonably referred to as a Romulan state of tranquillity.

Guy, that question is simply genius. You are making me think plots, I voted Harry Kim because I think he would be the least likely and as you know the least likely is always the one.

Really I'm thinking the Delaney Sisters, way cool idea.

I can only think of one fan fic in recent months that even dealt with Telek it's an interesting story by Elem called "Time and Tides". I would be glad to provide a link if anyone is interested.

Yes, pleeeease! There doesn't exist enough Romulan fanfic anyway, so I'm glad for everything (readable, that is).

And since I missed the last season of VOY, can someone explain what Deanna has to do with Romulan spies ?

I can see the the commodore of one of the Imperial Clone Vats trying to decide which Delanney sister is the best most perfect copy of a human being which they could pass off for mustard and... They just couldn't decided, so sent them both on the mission.

Which has some sort of Cylonny thought of a complex some where inside the Star Empire with Thousands of Delanney sister waiting for the call to arms.

and Elem's summary

A post- Endgame fixer upper of sorts. Kathryn has a surprise visitor who sets in motion an adventure that involves Voyager, time and new enemies.

It is PG13, has some J/C romance, but that isn't the major plot line of the story. Elem is a very good writer.

The Doctor.

Much easier to sneak a spy subroutine into a massively complicated computer program than it would be to sneak someone into Starfleet and hope that they get assigned to Voyager one day.

No way. We've seen him sing Earth songs when noone was around....

And even if he was a sleeper, he "captured" all those Romulans in Message in a Bottle working contrary to the Empires interests....

From Inside Man

BARCLAY: The Borg must have sent a transwarp probe to steal my hologram. Maybe because they, they thought that it was carrying anti-Borg technology to Voyager.
HARKINS: It wasn't the Borg, Reg.
BARCLAY: Then it was the Romulans. They're using a cloaked ship. They've been curious about Voyager for years.
HARKINS: That is enough.

That's a cool line! Maybe it was one of the original crew who died? But then again, they had a list of the exact manifest at that point thanks to the letters sent to the Nice Romulan Scientist.

I don't think it could have been Kim. No Romulan could be that much of a dweeb. I'm thinking the badass Seska was a triple agent. A Romulan altered to look Cardassian altered to look Bajoran. It's too perfect.

Except the baby looked like a Cardie

It was very, very deep cover. She impregnated herself with an embryo combining Cardassian and Kazon DNA to throw them off.

Thanks!

But how could they plan ahead putting a spy on board when no one knew that Voyager would be pulled into the Delta Quadrant?

The name of the Romulan spy is Eg'gyrs.

He was mentioned in the book "Chrysalis" in which the adventures takes place between the events in "Resolutions" and "Basics". He's a half-human, half-Romulan ex-Maquis who joined the Voyager crew together with Chakotay and the other Maquis.

The security organization of the Lynx Empire strongly suspects that he was a Romulan spy, sent out to monitor the activities of the Maquis and inform the Romulan government about the events and activities in the Cardassian-Maquis conflict. When Chakotay's ship was transported to the Delta Quadrant and the crew later joined the Voyager crew, he continued to gather information which he was planning to send to the Romulan government as soon as possible.

It's possible that he did send some information with Telek R'Mor when he returned to Romulan space in the episode "Eye Of The Needle" but that has never been confirmed.

It's also possible that this Maquis member never was a spy but instead remained loyal to Chakotay, the Maquis and later on the Voyager crew but the security organization of the Lynx Empire won't take any chances until his innocence is proved in some way.

Have you seen Eye of the needle?

150 people wrote messages to their loved ones and handed them to a Romulan living in the early 2350s who died shortly before Voyagers maiden Voyage where she was lost to the impetuousness of the Caretaker's Biological clock.

They had thirty years to place a spy who would include a new additional message, or they'd invent a code after the fact which would unveil an already existing Romulan spy so it's really just a question if the Romulan Government had a keen interest in demolishing their safe and comfy present to hand over almost certain victory to, and planting a Ropmulan flag on terra by, whoever had their job 20 years earlier.

Causality is not dependant on linear continuity. Ilinear continuity can get the job done just as smart, which is what we learnt from Braxton in Future's End, even it was proved quickly that he was a dumb ass who didn't know time as well as he thought he did.
