Oh yeah, the really fun ones are.Romance novels are NC-17?Most stories are NC-17 for romance novel-style scenes.
The stories with romance that leads to love making can be fun. The NC-17 tales that are just hook ups and sex are usual pretty lame.

I just finished reading that one a few days ago - it was quite absorbing. And I'm so far behind on reading the newer Trek novels, I can't make heads nor tails of most of what people discuss in the Treklit forum here anyway - so I just ignore any stories that depend on the reader's familiarity with any of the post-TV series novels. If you are a hearty soul, then I would recommend "Star Trek Voyager: Counting in Time" a fan fic novel near and dear to my heart. It can be found here.

Please be aware, this story does not exist in the same "pocketbook universe" where a certain Voyager character met an untimely end. In fact one can read this fan novel without consulting any "post tv series" voyager novels for information. I would recommend rewatching "Endgame" before reading "Counting in Time", since it directly impacts many points from that episode.

I am strongly recommending Starship Enterprise "Broken Bow" by The Badger.
It's just an outstanding take on what ENT should have been.

A three-part story "The Final Reckoning" by Ben Pieper:

A very long and epic fanfic with characters mostly from TNG, but also from DS9 and Voyager. The most important characters in the story are Picard and Q (even though the latter doesn't appear in many scenes). This is the best fanfic I've ever read.
The first part is about a devastating war spanning the entire galaxy, so expect massive amounts of character death. Character deaths actually make the first part depressing to read, but don't give up reading it. The first time reading I actually wondered whether the story would run out of characters.
The second part is the worst in my opinion. It's about a romance between Picard and an original character (there's a good reason for her being an OC).
The third part wraps up the events in the story. It has one of the best endings I've ever read in fiction.
