The Office: 6x13 - "Secret Santa" - Discussion

Jim's decision to let Phyllis play Santa at the Dunder Mifflin Christmas party ires Michael. Dwight and Jim hope to infuse the staff with holiday spirit, though their heads are filled with worry over the bankruptcy rumors.

I was rofl when Kevin sat on Micheal's lap

It was an OK episode...I thought that Moroccan Christmas last year was better, but Benihana Christmas is my favorite ep of the whole series, so it's hard not to compare Christmas eps to that one...

I do find myself curious as to how the Dunder Mifflin sale will affect things...no more David Wallace to tolerate the antics of the Scranton branch and take Michael's frantic phone calls...Jim loses his biggest cheerleader with the company too...

I wonder if they'll try to create a similar storyline as they did when they brought in Charles last season to butt heads with the branch. I'd almost prefer that instead of retreading that concept that they try DM getting bought by some massive, impersonal conglomerate that shows only a passing interest in the branch...that might be a different change of pace...

This seems like a perfect opportunity to make fun of/ mirror the NBC Comcast deal.

I would like to see them get bought by some corporation that has absolutely nothing to do with paper...just some big conglomerate that is snapping up DM for tax purposes or something like that...I could easily see them going in the direction of having a foreign corporation buy them, then deal with the problems from someone like Michael trying to relate to his overseas bosses...

I loved Michael's gift to Dwight. I thought it would be from Jim to frustrate him. Turns out it was Michael demonstrating his bizarre ability to occasionally do exactly the right thing. I just thought it was cool that, despite how he seems to walk all over Dwight, he does pay enough attention to know what Dwight would enjoy - both the gift and the method of delivery. :D

Why did the new receptionist Erin have a bandage on her face? Was it because of a run-in with geese?

I think it was more from the three French hens pulling her hair out to make nests. Although with all the birds involved, there's no telling which one might have attacked her.

I liked that it was understated, with all the goofiness of the episode it showed Michael really did make a great Santa.

I need to read the Bible against because I must have skipped over the parts where Jesus flies and heals Leopards.

I enjoyed this episode, one of the better ones this season, although I'm still not really sure if Michael is going to be fired or kept around? It seemed like he was safe, but Wallace did say they were cleaning house, management has to be part of that...

I doubt it, since Michael's branch is apparently the only one making a profit. They'd be getting rid of Wallace and the others because all of the other branches are doing so poorly. Not to mention that getting rid of Michael would be a huge "jumping the shark" move on NBC's part. If Steve Carell leaves the show's pretty much over.

Wallace also said Michael and his branch were the only good things about the company. They seem to feel it's Michael's "unorthodox" style that makes the branch successful. That, and Jim!

Gervais has said he'd love to appear on the American version of "The Office" and I think he probably will, but I doubt he would show up playing David Brent.
