Does S&S not care about people who read eBooks?

Of course you can read them and they are ePub regardless of the DRM. Just download Adobe Digital Editions and register it. Then you can purchase the ePub eBooks and read them on your computer. If you have a compatible stand alone reader like the Sony Reader line, you can register that with ADE and load the books onto the reader to read away from the computer.
*holds up iPod Touch* Stanza on this supports ePub. How do I get the DRM-infested files to read on this? :)
There is a way, but I don't think the mods would like me coming right out and saying so in public. And one thing to note, Stanza is buggy. So if you see Stanza not doing something right, check with ADE and if ADE is displaying correctly, it's Stanza.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I just read this article this morning.

Seems that S&S will be delaying e-book availability of some top-tier titles by 4 months in an effort to prevent price erosion. It doesn't appear to have any bearing on Star Trek e-book pricing or availability, at least not yet.

The books being delayed in eBook are hardcover big deal sellers. I don't think Star Trek is big enough to be effected yet (I hope).

Let's hope it does not effect the Trek books. If I have to wait any longer for the Typhon Pact books I might explode.

Hmm, funny I don't see any price erosion when I look at ebook prices. I expect to pay less for a crippled copy of a book that I can't be sure of being able to read next time I change reader.

Also four months? Plenty of time for someone to scan and torrent them. When are these old school publishers going to learn, if you don't give people a way to own stuff legally, with the same freedom as a print version they will find another way.

Hey, this is cool. I thought that the ebook-izing of the Trek back catalogue died the same time SCE did, but it would appear that Voyager: Pathways was released in Kindle form in September of this year. Perhaps this is an exceptional case, but I'm hoping the remaining Trek books not available for Kindle slowly come out.

if you buy a reader that supports ePub via Adobe Digital Editions, then if you buy a different reader with ADE support, you will be able to take your ePub from one reader to another. I have a Sony Reader PRS-505. If I was to buy say an Astak branded reader, I'd be able to read the same ePub eBooks on it without a problem. The Kindle is one where you cannot easily migrate to a different reader without losing what you've bought. Unless you can strip the DRM and convert to ePub.
