This year's first snow....

Currently experiencing our first winter storm - it''s not that pleasant outside, dunno where the city snow ploughs are, school buses aren't running and there's even some thunder.

Yes.

1) I hate when weather forecasts are wrong.

2) When winter comes, I just want to be throw into the worst of it. Even though it sucks, I'd much rather it be here than be waiting around for it to show up.

Well, we didn't get the projected eighteen inches, but we did wind up with about 11 inches of snowfall. Today brings 50-mph wind gusts and three-foot snow drifts.

I'm reasonably certain that if I didn't declare a snow day, every single one of the employees in my office would have shanked me.

We don't get snow days here. Even the schools never close as far as I can tell.

Though this year was special, they actually plowed!

Aaaand strike that, one of my partners overruled me, and everyone's now back at work.

After getting my car out from a four-foot snow drift.

Guh.

We had a snow day at school. I still have to work though... Waiting in the snow for the bus won't be fun. :( When I went to bed at 3:30 am it hadn't even STARTED snowing yet, but when I woke up at 7:30 the snow storm was completely over and we had a full 6 inches of snow... I wish I had been awake... I would've loved to have seen it coming down...

It's been coming down since this morning, but it's still too warm for it to stick. There's maybe half an inch on the ground.

Here in the about mile-high desert southwest (Albuquerque) it snowed a few weeks back, and earlier this week. Nothing major so far in town though. However the Sandia Mountains have been ABSOLUTELY STUNNING from the snow.

Here's a picture that I found on facebook taken on the 4th from pretty far northwest Albuquerque.

First snowstorm today in GTA! Was a messy drive this morning, but well plowed/salted by afternoon. Busses weren't cancelled here though.

This morning was pretty on the way to work. But, alas, then came the rain and it's been raining ever since. We've still got snow, but it's yucky and messy out there.

I hate rain during winter. I find it terribly depressing. And if it's a cold rain then it's even more miserable, which thankfully isn't today.
