Don't forget Mysterio. I think him and Kraven the Hunter are the only other worthwhile villains left in the webslinger's rogues gallery.

They can do Hobgoblin, and try their best to play up the differences between him an GG so it's not a rehash of the first film.
Of course, this wouldn't work without the Ned Leeds thing.
As for Cage, he would've been too young to play Osborn in the first SM movie. Osborn should at least be 40 if Harry is 16, and Cage was 36 at the time.

Well, both Goblins were played up as guys Peter slugged it out with. Play up Hobby as an actual criminal mastermind who escapes and succeeds due to his craftiness and not his powers it might work.
Or maybe not, and focus on new villains.
I think we all would like to forget about that.
Let's see Spider-Man villains left to use that aren't already dead: Carnage, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter, The Lizard, Vulture, Jackal, Hobgoblin, Sin Eater, Electro, Shocker, The Rhino, Scorpion (we could have a new Venom), Puma, Vermin, Chameleon, The Tinkier, Tombstone, Silvermane, the Enforcers, Hammerhead, tons available.
Personally I wanna see the Lizard...particuarly the Todd McFarlane savage Torment Lizard.

As some of have already mentioned, there are a few more good villains for Spidey that haven't been shown yet: Vulture, Mysterio, Hammer Head, Chameleon, Hobgoblin, Scorpion, Electro, Shocker, Carnage, Tombstone, and Kraven. I always liked Rhino, but I don't think he would work on film too well. I also liked the Jackal from the Clone Saga, but I don't think he would work well either. Wouldn't mind seeing Michael Clarke Duncan take on Kingpin again, and this time given a better script. There's also some of the new post-BND villains like Mr. Negative, which look interesting, but I don't know much about him or the others, except for Menace, and I think the Goblin thing has been well represented in the movies already. Or maybe Symthe and the Spider-Slayers. Spider-Man has a great rogues gallery, but I don't think they lend themselves as easily as adaptation to the big screen as Batman's villains. I personally think that Spidey's group is second only to Bats, but Batman's villains-well the main ones, are not quite as fantastical.
So hopefully if Malkovich is chosen they'll make him Mysterio or Electro, which I think would work better than Vulture. Why not go with Kingsley again? I think the man would do anything for money anyway, from the look of some of the pics he's been in, so Spider-Man 4 would be a step up. Not to say that BK isn't a good actor. I think they missed the boat by not having the blonde actress-can't remember her name-play Hardy instead of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3. She looked more liked Hardy than Anne Hathaway. But if they do put Hardy in this film, it would be pretty stupid not to make her Black Cat. A little romantic tension between Spidey and BC would be nice and it might provide the challenge/turmoil in the Peter-MJ engagement/marriage that would give them something angsty. I wonder if there are any plans to include the Lizard in the film? They've already set him up nicely. Why not just let that storyline play out?

IIRC, didn't Malkovitch move to France, saying that he was tired of life in the States, its worship of the almighty buck, and of George Bush? He said that all in an interview five years ago.

I don't mind the Vulture, but I think the idea of The Vulturess sounds a bit stupid, and I don't know why they couldn't just make a new character rather than using Felicia.
But with Vulture we could have some amazing aerial fight scenes
Cage has always been able to play older than his actual age. In Peggy Sue Got Married, aged 22, he was playing Kathleen Turner's hubby as an 18 year old AND as a 45 year old (by way of comparison, Ralph Macchio is 3 years older than Cage and the same year, could be seen in cinemas in The Karate Kid Part II). But I think Dafoe was the ideal choice for GG anyway.
As regards The Lizard, if the suits think he'll be too one-note, just a man in a mask/ funny suit, why not alter the character? Make him more of a Jekyll-Hyde or Banner/ The Hulk, who changes back and forth? They've already changed GG's costume, Spidey's web-shooting and Venom's origins. I think a changing Lizard would be acceptable to fans and would give the excellent Dylan Baker a turn in the spotlight.
God knows it would beat Vulturess ...

^ I think that would have to be not only a de-aging machine but a completely-changing-everything-about-you machine (apart from the bald head ...). Vin as the young Sir Ben? Not likely.

Malkovitch moved to France over a tax dispute; he's generally considered a conservative. Not that it should prevent him from critiquing Bush, nor do I see what that has to do with his acting chops...

You'd think after forcing Venom on him with the last movie, they'd be more willing to listen to his point of view this time, but nope, ignore the guy who got it right first two times out and make him follow the pattern of the less successful third effort ... If that's the case, I can't see them listening to me either!

You're giving him the job of replacing Raimi, exodus? How could you. I thought we were friends. This is just rubbish. I should be the one replacing Raimi. I thought that would be obvious.
Anyway, theatrics aside, I trust Raimi. He came swinging back with Drag Me To Hell this past summer and he's acknowledged the mistakes of Spider-Man 3, which takes some humility. I mean, this is the guy behind Evil Dead, Darkman, A Simple Plan, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. The only reasons why I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt is his immeasurable talent and humble nature. I think Spider-Man 4 will be better than we all think.
