Apparently Jon Stewart doesn't like Edward Norton...

Thespeckledkiwi

Vice Admiral
BTW what has Norton been in lately outside of the Hulk? But Stewart was recently commented on saying that Norton couldn't act out of a bag or something of that nature in regards to why Death to Smoochy failed. Personally I love that movie.

Entertainment Weekly was doing an interview with Stewart and they commented on the bad reviews and how panned Death to Smoochy was and if Stewart regretted it. He said no but then in the end, he said basically Norton couldn't act.

I am sure he meant that as a joke, maybe it didn't translate well in a written interview. I would be shocked if he really wanted to dis Norton.

Having not seen the interview, my guess would be that he was joking, since Norton is well known for his good acting.

Death to Smoochy was absolutely hysterical. I was almost in tears watching that movie.

Take note Stewart says nothing about Robin Williams, who had the most lines and basically stole the film or anything about Danny Devito.

Possibly but it did sound like he blamed the movie failing on Norton.

No, he sounded like he was acknowledging the fact that the movie just wasn't good for a variety of reasons and he put up Norton as the comedic whipping boy.

"Why did Death to Smoochy fail, Jon?"

"Because Ed Norton is a terrible actor."

In what version of reality does this sound like a likely version of that conversation?

I know it's hard to take sarcasm from text, but it's not like his sense of humour is an unknown quantity.

Agreed. Are we the only two people in the world who liked this movie...?

There's three of us. I had a friend who had to talk me into watching it.

Please tell me you're kidding.

Jon Stewart is a comedian. He makes jokes and uses this wonderful and mysterious thing called sarcasm.

He was attempting to be funny, nothing more.

Since Stewart being a horrible actor is a running gag on the Daily Show I'm thinking it was a joke.

Nope, I loved it so much I bought it.

Harvey Fierstein as a Mob Boss for charity is classic!!
"We all get old and die. Sometimes the gettin' old part doesn't happen." :guffaw:

That was my thought. Stewart quite frequently lampoons his acting abilities and his low box office draw. So sarcasm really fits, with him joking that it was Ed Norton who was the horrible actor.

Edward Norton starred in and produced one of my favorite movies, "The Painted Veil," with co-star and producer Naomi Watts. It's a historical drama set in China; and if Jon asks me, I'll tell him Edward Norton burned up the screen in it.
