I don't know that something like a liver requires all that complicated of matching beyond blood-type. There may be other factors that'd make rejection less likely but as long as the blood-type is the same I'd think the body would more-or-less "accept" it with anti-rejection meds.

Of course, again, the problem still is that there was no need for Wilson to match his friend's blood type since Wilson's blood-type is that of universal donor.

Is there an episode next week?

None as advertised, I'd be surprised if we get one between now and mid or late January. I'd stand to reason House is on Winter Hiatus.

Wilson and his patient are both O, As I understand it, they can donate to anyone but can only receive from another O.

Universal Donor is universal donor. Yeah, if POTW was Type O then, yes, he can only recieve Type O and then, yes, he and Wilson are "the same blood type" but, still, hardly a point to make since Wilson can donate to anyone.

Top41, I'm with you on the character of Cuddy. It's hard for me to tell just where they plan on going with her. On the one hand, her clothing has been getting more and more revealing as the season go by. Not that this is such a bad thing, mind you. :D And they keep trying to portray her as being a firm administrator yet give her an out on more than a few occasions. Then you have the relationship with Lucas, which seemed to come out of nowhere. I admit to being puzzled with that pairing, but then I do like the character of Lucas. He is a smart guy, but he has a soft side as well ... one that we saw a bit of back in his first appearance.

O negative is the only type that can donate to anyone. It lacks the Rh protein. An Rh negative person's blood can't tolerate the Rh proteins of RH positive blood, but Rh positive blood can take Rh negative. Type O lacks the A and B antigens. If a type O receives blood with foreign antigens it can be fatal, but A and B blood won't react badly to O because it lacks antigens.

O negative is the universal donor. AB positive is the universal recipient. If you're AB positive and you need a transfusion, you're covered.

Right. And Wilson is O-Negative.

I admit, I always kind of found Lucas a bit of a doofus. A fine partner for House when House was doing his stalking/snooping, but it's hard for me to see an intelligent professional woman like Cuddy going for him. But that's my problem with Cuddy overall--the plot drives her character rather than the other way around. She's not credible as a character because she just does whatever the plot calls for her to do. It's hard for me to believe that after she's been pining after House for years, when he finally gets his act together, she's like, no, I'm going to go for this PI guy because he's responsible... when we've not really seen any evidence as to whether he is or isn't. Meh, it's just kind of irritating!

Top, was she really pining for him all these years, or was that house's impression of her actions when he was under the influence of drugs?

She lets him get away with ridiculous procedures on a routine basis (I realize that's in large part to serve the plot), she's always seemed partial to him and has, up until now, gone out of her way personally for him. Maybe pining is too strong a word. It's not even so much that she's chosen someone else; it's that they had her choose a shlubby PI that was bound to upset House because House hired the guy a few seasons ago. It feels like she chose Lucas to spite House.

Believe me, the last thing I want to see is House and Cuddy get together. I just wish they'd drop the storyline altogether, rather than having everything about Cuddy revolve around House.

Cuddy has always been written fairly inconsistantly. In Season 1 she was a hard-as-nails adminstrator who House avoided at all costs, skirted around to break rules, and Cuddy was fairly no-nonsense. By the end of Season 1/into Season 2 Cuddy had softened quite a bit.

Her "love" and desires for House have been often showcased and it's been made clear on many ocassions she has romantic interests in him and House's...., well, being House always held her off. This is a woman who was curled up in vigil next to House's bed when he was hospitalized at the end of Season 4. Now she practicaly wants nothing to do with him?

It doesn't make any sense.

And her and Lucas just doesn't make any sense. I like Lucas and all -wish we had gotten his series- but as Top said he's a doofus. And not to speak ill of PIs, but it's hardly a high-class, high-paying, top-notch job. It's hard to believe a professional nearly 50 year old woman who runs an entire hospital and has a child would be interested in a somewhat younger doofus PI.

Now, sure, House wouldn't be a great partner either but Lucas just doesn't make sense and we've been shown many times that Cuddy has feelings for House. Though, I'd argue that this episode suggested that she still has some risidual feelings too.

^Yeah, I just read on the Facebook page that the next new episode will be...January 25th. Yikes.

Best House episode of the season by far. I was kind of in the middle at first, but I watched it again and this episode was awesome, a ton happened between House and Wilson and I loved the change in Wilson at the end there.

I'm hoping we get to see a bash brothers thing where we have an ornery House and Wilson...and how about Wilson running House's team and making some pretty interesting points. Is that the future if they ever want to rap up the series?
