Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths preview

It feels like each release has fewer and fewer extra features. Now they seem to be recycling the preview featurettes from previous movies, and it's lame as hell.

It's disappointing, but if they can produce an extra movie a year each with one less special feature I'll happily take the trade.

The special features have declined, especially in the absence of commentary tracks, but they're adding the DC Showcase shorts. It was previously thought that the first release with a short would be the summer 2010 release with its Jonah Hex short, but it's a nice surprise that Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths will actually have the first short, namely a Spectre short featuring the voices of Gary Cole and Alyssa Milano.

Also, the Blu-ray version has some nifty extras in the addition of the live action Aquaman and Wonder Woman TV pilots. I wonder which Wonder Woman pilot it is. I'm thinking it won't be the Lynda Carter pilot, but will instead be the Cathy Lee Crosby backdoor pilot.

In other DC news, it's rumored (and should be confirmed very soon) that the next release after Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths will be Batman: Under the Red Hood. Whether it's an adaption of the "Under the Hood" storyline from the comics or an original story about the origin of the Joker or a retitled adapaption of Batman: The Killing Joke remains to be seen.

Batman Under The Hood....hmmm interesting choice for their next one if they indeed decide that is what's coming up next. Perhaps it's a little of both, an adaption of The Killing Joke followed up by Under The Hood interspliced through flashback sequences?

I'm thinking it's going to be an adaptation of Judd Winick's "Under the Hood" storyline. Which is why it's going to be called, y'know, Under the Hood.

If it's going to just be an adaption of Under The Hood...then I wonder why they decided to pick this particular one over the bigger, epic stories that fans want to see like Kingdom Come or Knightfall, or Sinestro Corps War?

^^^
Some of those epics would be more difficult to wrestle into a running time of 70-75 minutes. Plus, they may want to space out the most anticipated titles so they have some of them in reserve for times when the line may need a sales boost. They're taking the long view here. They've said that they already have enough titles in early development to keep the line running through 2018.

That is true...and I guess Under the Hood does come under their mandate with what they want to accomplish with storytelling, art, in each of their different projects. We'll see what's actually announced though. Either way I am pleased just was curious about the choice of this particular project if it is indeed the next selection.

Regarding Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, the composer is James L. Venable (whose work has mostly been on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and a number of Kevin Smith movies). This marks the first time that they've gone outside of the trio of Christopher Drake, Robert J. Kral, and Kevin Manthei for a composer in the DC Universe DTV line.

Well, from a business perspective, the WB always wants more Batman. He sells like no other.

They said in the past that they wouldn't want to do Kingdom Come unless they could do some approximation of Ross' art, which would be insanely expensive.

I just saw the preview when I went to Target today, and I must say I'm very excited and looking forward to the DVD release on February 23! :)

I pre-ordered my copy online yesterday. :)

Edit to add: here's the statue of Owlman DC Direct is releasing on the 24th February:
