FlashForward will be taking an extended hiatus until March 4 following Thursday's new episode, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
An ABC spokesperson tells TVGuide.com that the later date will allow the serial drama to air new episodes back-to-back without repeats. The Wrap, which first reported the news, also says ABC does not want the show to have to compete with the 2010 Winter Olympics, airing in February on NBC.

That sucks.

Understandable. But still sucks.

Now I have nothing to watch until next year.

I guess I'll have to go outside and play in the forests of middle earth in the heat of the southern summer or something.

Stink.

Anyone who watched the new episode the other night new this, but thanks for the update. ;)

Do people still watch the Olympics? All the networks seem terrified of them! I thought they were like the Emmys, nobody cares anymore. :rommie:

I mean in America. That's what's forcing shows to return in March. I guess enough Americans are hooked on figure skating to make the difference? And maybe snowboarding, possibly speed skating. But man, those skiing events, whooooo caaaarreees! :rommie:

The big problem in America with the Olympics is that NBC airs events on a delay so they can package the evening broadcasts as a "presentation" and you already know who won.

With the Olympics taking place in Vancouver I would imagine most of the big events will be scheduled so they can air live on the East coast of the US.

how is that a "sidelining"? Believe that was expected/planned, and that a LOT of shows are taking longer winter hiatuses because of the Olympics. How can you read too much into it for one show, and it's not a big deal for others? We've known this for a while, yes?

Well now we have flashforward, V, Stargate Universe and Doctor Who (Series 5 late March) all coming back in March, going to be sucky winter for scifi, well at least I will have 24 and Caprica in January.

Some stuff live on the east coast, but still delayed broadcast on the west coast. It's all about the primetime $$$$.

For actual LIVE live coverage, tune into CBC.
