Remember this series?

The Castellan

Commodore
This was a show that I enjoyed alot in 1987 when I was a kid.

Parts 2 and 3 are easily found there. This show was ahead of its time, really deep and had a pretty dark tone to it. And this was a kids show, but it was well liked among most adults as well. It's a pity it got cancelled, due to the fact the American equivlents of UK's Mary Whitehouse butted in, condeming the violence.....despite the fact this is a post-apocolyptic themed series.

Enjoy, and hope you get to watch the rest of the series as well :bolian:

The reason it was so good despite being a kids' show was that it was made by J. Michael Straczinski. jms wanted to do something as serious as he could, working within the network-madated parameters of a kids' show, and the marketing department's requirements that there be a laser battle in every episode so they could sell the interactive toys.

It was also one of the first shows with CGI characters, albeit robots.

Oh, and it handled the death of a favorite character ten times better than Trek handled Yar, Dax and Kirk.

Favorite line - as Cpt Power is rescuing a woman.

Woman: So you're Captain Power. I've heard of you. What's your real name?
Capt: Jonathan Power.
Woman (blinks): You're kidding.

I've never seen this, but is is Awesome :techman:

Digitize them!!!

EDIT - Doesn't that main bad guy look exactly like the old TNG era Borg?

The toys kinda sucked as far as playing with the show went. They were pretty cool toys aside from the interactivity, though.

Ah, I see. For whatever reason I never got any of the toys that did stuff like that.

(Bravestarr did the same thing, or did it between the toys anyway)

I hadn't even asked for those particular toys, but my parents thought I would like them. I did, however the novelty of the TV show wore off fast. I was pretty young and I just didn't find it that interesting.

I was too busy drinkin', smokin', and partyin' to notice this but I'll have to give it a look-see.

I had the Captain Power figure and the ship/gun...they barely worked with the show, but worked pretty well with the video tape mission that came along with the toy. I seem to remember that the show would randomly score "hits" on the ship at weird times unconnected to what was supposed to be happening...

I do remember playing Captain Power a lot on the playground in elementary school for a year or so as well...that was always fun...

Just a slight correction; J. Michael Straczynski was the story editor on the show responsible for plotting out the season and wrote about half of the scripts, but he didn't produce the show.

I loved Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future! Used to play it at my friends place...and i had Captain Power and the Power Chamber! Didn't have any of the other figures though, and the bad guy's name was Lord Dredd.

I love the throwaway reference to the "Babylon 5 Medical Centre".

I wonder who could've put that in there...
