"Harry Potter" Ultimate Editions

Re: Harry Potter Ultimate editions

I definitely want them, mainly because I'm a 'feature junkie' and love behind-the-scenes material and commentaries. The fact that I happen to be a major HP fan factors into things as well.

Re: Harry Potter Ultimate editions

Not so interested in this particular movie but if they do an Ultimate Edition of 'Azkaban I may give it a shot. It's my favorite of the movies and I am interested in anything behind the scenes with Cuaron. I also think the movie was a little 'over-edited' and cut-happy with the script, so I'm very interested in any deleted scenes or content re-inserted into the movie.

Re: Harry Potter Ultimate editions

Commentary Tracks and Extended Editions would be the biggest draws for me...I'm not clear on whether either of those are included.

I also doubt any Extended Edition of GoF could really do the book justice, as I suspect even cut material doesn't bring back enough of what's missing. I'm not sure who's ultimately responsible (see what I did there?), but there's way too much telegraphing in the movie, and I felt it was a major step down from PoA. Actually, HBP was the first one that I felt may have been better than PoA, though OoP came close...again, though, too much cutting.

They're planning one, but they haven't yet said exactly when it's going to be released. It is definitely one of the movies (along with Order of the Phoenix) that I'm looking forward to in terms of extended content.

A list of everything that's included on the first two Ultimate Editions can be found here and here.

To the people who claim we don't know if there are going to be Ultimate Editions of the others, that is totally false: we DO know that they'll be coming (thanks to the trailers for the UEs for Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets); we just don't know WHEN they'll be coming.

Re: Harry Potter Ultimate editions

No commentaries, 7 and 13 minutes of new footage respectively.

Hrm. Think I'll wait for reviews.

As with other SFF movies on my wish list, I think I'm going to wait for the Ultimate Super Deluxe Fabulous Collector's Edition Blu-Ray Collection to come out.

I've been gradually replacing some of my SFF DVDs with Blu-Rays as BD prices have been slashed on certain movie titles. For instance, I bought HP III - V on BD at Best Buy for $17.99 each. (This was back in September when I wasn't thinking about Black Friday specials.) Then on Black Friday Walmart had a special sale on Harry Potter BDs for $10 apiece, so I decided to get TSS and CoS. Incidentally, there were only a few HP BDs left at the store I visited, so I made the right choice of purchasing earlier from Best Buy.

Like others have said it will be interesting to see what they do to the later films in the series. My bet is that it won't be any huge changes since I doubt they have 20 or 30 minutes of new footage just laying on the cutting room floor to put back into the films. I bet just inserting the deleted scenes.

I just wish we could have some idea of what the deleted scenes are. Is it just frivolous stuff or meaty important sequences that had to be cut to shorten the films? Im also worried that by the time the last film comes out to disc they'll cancel the ultimate editions and release a whole new series of even better editions that actually includes the interesting stuff. Gah! I hate this triple dipping crap!

So has anyone actually bought these? If anyone has, I have a question to pose. Are the discs themselves in a separate blu-ray case within the box? I was thinking about buying these, but noticed just how much space they would take up on the shelf and thought better. However, if there's a separate case inside that I could put with my collection while the other bits are elsewhere it would be easier.

what about the books from the gift sets? are they just stills from the film or is there any concept art? I prefer to look at concept art in print than on a screen...
