Hello there!

I'm currently studying at University and as part of the course I have to put on a film festival.

I really want to put on some Star Trek episodes from the original series 1 but I'm not sure which ones to pick.

I've got room for six episodes so I'm asking for your help!

What would you pick as the six best episodes from the original series? Thank you so much!

It depends what your festival is trying to show. The best episodes? The episodes that best demonstrate Trek's allegorical roots? The Man Trap is a great one as it best introduces many of the supporting cast. The Corbomite Manoeuvre has a heavy-handed moral message. The Naked Time has a message about sobriety at work.

Where No Man has Gone Before

City on the Edge of Forever

The Doomsday Machine

Balance of Terror

Journey to Babel

Errand of Mercy

^^I agree with all those, but add to the list of choices:

Naked Time

Amok Time

This Side of Paradise

Ultimate Computer

The City on The Edge of Forever

Amok Time

Mirror, Mirror (Absolute WIN)

The Doomsday Machine (Also WIN)

A Private Little War

The Trouble With Tribbles

Maybe some of the "message" ones would be best for a film class. Such as The Enemy Within and Is There in Truth No Beauty? mixed with the action eps like Doomsday Machine and The Ultimate Computer.

You could show Star Trek taking on the exact same issue... from different sides of the fence.

The Original Series "A Private Little War"

followed by

The Next Generation "Too Short a Season"

I'm just going to go ahead and gloss over the fact ENT spent a year looking for a weapon of mass-destruction... since that one at least, definitely existed. So not much parallel there, unless you view the attack on Florida as the 22nd Century's 9/11. Although they're certainly all non-too subtle references to events happening at that time, in the real world.

The Cage
Balance of Terror
The Trouble With Tribbles
The Ultimate Computer
The Doomsday Machine
Amok Time

PDHolmes, don't you have any favorites of your own??? Why don't you show those?
