Final numbers for V: 9.299 million viewers (5.7/9 HH and 3.1/9 A18-49). Down from 9.324 million viewers the week before and stable in the demo.

^ Still, I don't think being the lead-in to Dancing With the Stars is helping them.

Plus, if they are up against NCIS (I don't know the times because I TiVo everything), that's a bad place to be.

V numbers are excellent but ABC has doomed it with the break unless they bring it back in Feb along with Lost. With Lost at 9pm it would provide a perfect lead in at 8pm and ABC could maybe snag a little Idol audience away. However ABC would be wise to rerun repeats of V over a double night before they brought it back and anything above 8 million & 2.7 will give it a 2nd season.

If V is on Tuesdays when American Idol is on and NCIS it is screwed.

However it's most likely screwed anyways.

Fringe looks to be virtually cancelled...

Fringe will not be airing in Feb but instead will take a 7 week break and Lie To Me has been picked up for 9 more episodes. Debut show Past Life will take Fringe's slot.

Well done FOX you ruined another show, tv exec's

Seriously what were they thinking. An Abrams show is freaking gold right now after Star Trek.

J.J will make a few more big movies and tv shows am sure and 0% will be with FOX, there loss. The people behind the Thursday move should be sacked even more so since they refuse to move it.

Who produces the show again ? because if am ABC with LOST ending I would pick up Fringe because DVR shows a good timeslot and your looking at over 7.5 million, if not 8 million plus a decent demo. Higher if ABC could secure repeats maybe air season 2 over summer.

Fox doesn't care, once again it's not their show.

Fringe had a 22 episode season 2 order, Lie to Me did not, so the back nine pick up isn't that big of a deal.

Once again a timeslot change has basically killed a show. It's ridiculous.

Yep and Fox could have saved themselves by moving Dance/Idol to Wednesdays and Thursdays instead of Tuesday Wednesday. Sure Bones and Fringe would have to be up against NCIS, but I think they would have held their own because NCIS only got more popular this year. If Bones and fringe were on Tuesdays to begin with NCIS might not have gained viewers.

Idiots get paid tens of millions to drive shows into the ground and be stupid.

Lets face it Do You Think You Can Dance has no right being a non summer show the ratings are below average and lets face it DWTS is the fall master of reality shows. Fringe could of run rampant on wednesday nights, which is an open night IMO especially between 8-9pm.

Don't be so certain. Joss Whedon keeps going back to Fox and getting burned, after all.

What astounds me is the narrow-minded attitude of the networks. They put something up against a ratings powerhouse and assume the show isn't viable simply because not enough people watch it. (Or to be more precise, aren't watching the actual BROADCAST). For all we know V might be getting 30 million viewers -- 21 million of whom happen to be recording it on DVR while watching NCIS or downloading it later. But rather than do the intelligent thing and move the bloody show to a different timeslow, they leave it to wither and die.

The only upside to all this is at least NCIS is a) a good show and b) a SCRIPTED DRAMA. If it had been another reality show of the American Idol or Biggest Idiot...er...Loser category, I'd really be questioning the intelligence of the American viewing public. The fact NCIS is still able to attract 20 million viewers should be celebrated, because the pervailing attitude seems to be only shows like American Idol are capable of generating such viewership. And I think American Idol has done more destruction to culture than any other show in decades, if you look at how many TV shows have been cancelled or at least fatally wounded as a direct consequence of being scheduled against Idol, it's criminal. Frankly, if I were a network programmer for one of the others, I'd do something like schedule infomercials in that timeslot and reclaim an hour from Saturday. Or, if I were CBS, I'd put NCIS opposite it and let the two duke it out. Whoever manages to come up with a show that knocks Idol off its perch will be a hero ... though with our luck it'll be some show like "Who Wants to Marry a Water Buffalo".

Fox gave Dollhouse 26 episodes, that's 20 more episodes than they should have. The show is just a horrible mess that wasn't thought out well. It should have been so much better than it turned out to be.

Agreed. Wish they would have had this foresight into Firefly though. :(

Apparently this Abrams' show is not gold--Fringe is a merely passable show. I've seen much better get canned and with not as many episodes as Fringe has made.

I also thought Star Trek was a very average film with a plot device villian with the thinnest motivation and very little in the way of heart. Sure as you watch it for the first time it is entertaining but once it is over and you sit back and reflect on it then you realize how plagued it is with plotholes and how hollow it really is.

The only solid Abrams' show out there currently on is LOST and its brilliance is due to Lindeloff & Cuse--not Abrams.

If Fringe is axed I can't say I'll be all that disappointed.

Fringe was getting 10 to 10.5 million viewers last year after House. Lie to Me is getting 7.5. Fringe should have never moved. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean millions of others don't.

Fringe was getting 10 to 10.5 million viewers last year after House.
And now Fringe isn't getting that many viewers. If people really liked it they would stick with it whether it was on Tuesday at 9 or Thurs at 9 or Fri a 9. So obviously people don't find it as interesting as last year or it was one of those shows that certain people liked but something better is on and they aren't as passionate a viewer to be bothered to DVR it if it conflicts with SN or Grey's Anatomy or CSI.

The Nielsens are crap anyway. One person is supposed to represent a trillion people or whatever (exaggeration, I know), so if a handful of people watch CSI instead of Fringe it looks like Fringe has lost millions of viewers.
