Whatever happened to Michael Jan Friedman?

Just to bring this thread back to its original topic, MJF was seen last night at the SFWA annual holiday reception. Rumors of his demise appear to be mistaken.
Are you sure it was him, and not a lookalike planted in the crowd to confuse people? It worked for Andy Kaufman, after all... :p

OK, let's get this straight. The "me" you guys saw last night WAS Andy Kaufman. If you were watching Ghost Hunters the way Dayton's wife does, you'd know that.

Just for the record, I've never been planted in a crowd. Potted yes, but never planted.

As for my activities...they're top secret. No Trek on the horizon at this time but as someone (Bob? Greg?) mentioned earlier, I've got a number of projects in development, both fiction and non-fiction. And if all goes according to plan they'll stay in development, unsullied by actual publication.

Seriously, folks, I'll let you know about them as soon as some editor grabs them. Oh, I'll let you know all right. Don't worry about that...

HOLY CRAP! IT'S MICHAEL JAN F**KING FRIEDMAN!

^ Funny, that's what Mike's wife said as Bob Greenberger was crawling out the Friedmans' bedroom window...

Just before Bob plummeted 20 unobstructed feet to the cruel, unforgiving red-brick patio below.

Fortunately, his fall was broken by The Calling--all 48 copies sold in the continental U. S., piled there by the former Dave Mack Fan Club in anticipation of the book-burning later that evening.

So who was the Michael Jackson lookalike wandering through the party?

(I'm not joking. There really was a Jackson impersonator inexplicably mingling with all the writers and editors at the party!)

Why were they having a book burning at your house, Mike? Was it part of the candlelight vigil for your career?

No, for my hairline...
