In this shot, right before Nero says, "The hull, magnify" the image on the screen appears to be a different "model" of the Enterprise that looks a lot more like the TOS version. Note the position on the supports for the warp nacelles.

I don't have a capture, but in the next shot, it looks like the updated Enterprise.

It's the JJprise. From that distance, and from certain angles, it can look like the TOS Enterprise.

Yeah, it's the new Enterprise.
I blew up the image and converted it to grayscale to remove the effect the green coloring was having on the shape.

As you can see, it's definitely the new Enterprise.

Those who keep saying it looks nothing like the original Enterprise should see this. It also confirms why so many moviegoers had no problem recognizing it as the Big E.

Other than the vauge relationship of the shapes and overall rough silhouette of the ship it does look nothing like the TOS ship. The average movie goer couldn't tell the difference between this movie's ship and a hole in their ass.

The same could be said for some of the fanboys on this and other boards who claim to know more than the 'unwashed masses'. Either way, it is a very rude thing to say.
An expert is someone who merely claims to know more than everyone else. It does not mean they actually do.

Damn, dude. Relax.

My point was that why does it matter what the "average movie goer" thinks. Any vaugely rough shape of a starship the "average movie goer" would see as the starship. Hell, you could probably put the Millennium Falcon up there and the "average movie goer" would think or see nothing wrong with it.

The ship in this movie should've been a very slightly updated version of the TOS model. And by "very slightly updated" I simply mean more details/texturing on the hull.

Countless CG artists on this very board have done amazing work modeling and rendering the TOS ship using high-end home computers.

There's no reason at all for the ship in this movie to have been so different other than changing it for the sake of changing it.

Eh, that's a matter of opinion.
I love the revamp of this Enterprise, and I'm pretty beholden to the original and the TMP versions.

We've done that thread already. You've done that thread already, in fact, so--since the OP's question has been asked and answered--I'll just close this before it finishes turning into a new version of that old thread which turned so ugly.
