What do kids think about TOS remastered?

Has anyone here spoken to anyone under 18 who has seen the remastered TOS?

Do they say it is good, and the short-back-and-sides and papier-mache sets don't matter, as the exterior CGI is so good?

What do they think?

My daughter LOVES it! She also loves TOS Classic. She has seen seasons 1 & 2 of each along with selected episodes of Classic season 3. Also, she has seen a lot of TNG and some DS9 and Voyager.

She's 10 1/2 months old.

Model envy...my 1701 dates all the way back to the Emt kit, which I bought at a local hobbystore waaay back in '79, and that, fourteen years before I got the ST:TMP refit kit...but I do have the Ent-E....someone mentioned Godzilla and Ultraman...boy,that takes me back decades to Saturday afternoons, and after-school viewings of Hiata and the Science Patrol...yes, ya dang right I liked those!Hiiiiya!!BTW, I do know someone going on a bit older than 18, and am sure they like the remastered eps, indeed.

Ultraman is still cool. Now that's something that should be re-imagined...

I can't say I've shown Trek DVDs to my daughter (21 months) yet, but I have read to her from ST novels. She seemed to enjoy those.

I'm sure young people think classic Trek is "fail" and "pwned" and other good mindless shit like that.

No but seriously, I think the pacing of that show is too slow for most of today's youth. TV and film today is cut at too rapid a pace for charming ol' TOS to capture their attention for 42 mins +.

Hey, cool model, here are mine!

Looks like you painted the entire model & used the water-dip decals, am I right?
My model is expected to get (and has already gotten) lots of physical play, so I didn't paint the gray of the hull so the peel-n-stick decals would hold better.

I disagree. Some eps of TOS really move along fast, even for today, although there may be some minor soporific effect from the lack-O-shakycam.:guffaw:

Two of my kids were 'niners. One has the Abrams Trek movie on her Christmas want list. :)

Couldn't really get any of mine into classic Trek, although of course they respect Kirk, Spock and McCoy.

Hey-was that the phaser the mutated Spock had in 'The Infinite Vulcan'? Because, I pity the one who stole it....THUMP...THUMP....THUMP.....BTW, it is cool! But loading the power pack has to be tiring....

Yeah, this model is too fragile to play with, though eventually I will purchase one of those detailed larger lights and sound USS Enterprise toys, one from the first movies, another (when it comes out, not the kids toy) from XI, I would own one already but they are expensive to buy.

My 2 older sons grew up with Berman Trek, and after seeing some old episodes on VHS didn't really get into it... the "Olde Tyme Special Effects" just turned them off..

Fast forward to the 1st Remastered season, and they got into it..and wondered why they had liked the "Boring" Berman Trek..

And the youngest, has only known the Remastered...He loves it!!

My job is done..

Chrisisall that phaser is all sorts of win power. Just incredible. Well done! :techman:
I've always considered that design a work of art in and of itself. When my sculpture teacher gave us the assignment of blowing up a small, man-made object 8-10 times original size using cardboard, the choice became obvious to me.;)

Have they seen TAS? My Son likes that very much too- your job may not be quite finished.
