Anyone else writing a book?

I have done three editing passes. I spent this evening typesetting and formatting. It's looking pretty sharp. Guess I should work on the cover next. I'm just so paranoid I've missed stupid little errors, and no one will go over it for me because it's almost 150K words. Oh well.

Tell them the truth! Tell them about all those poor widows and orphans!

It's true, it's all true! I used OpenOffice to slaughter the widows and orphans without mercy.

But it didn't quite do the job, and I'll have to kill some of them myself.

I had a bad day yesterday and the day before. I wrote chapter 17 and then realised that I had gone about it all wrong, so I have got to rewrite it in order to get to where I need to for one of the big reveals in either the end of chapter 17 or the beginning of chapter 18.

Hey, it happens sometimes! I had to rewrite the ending to Part 1 of my book. I didn't like how it went the first time.

There were some other sections I had to toss out and redo, too. Just comes with the revision process!

Chapter 17 is now written and should provide another 2000 words when typed up. After that, onto chapter 18 (the present) and then another trip to the 1940s for an unknown number of chapters.

Glad to hear it!

My typesetting is basically done. I am adding supplemental material, still. I figured out what all I want to include. The final book is over 500 pages, so at least there's lot in it.

^Thanks! I'm s thrilled -- my first submission too! I tried sending samples, but the files were so big gmail returned it, so I tried with one less and it was returned again. Finally I just reduced the image sizes (duh) and sent them along. Gmail is all confusing, though, with all the returned mail, and I wasn't certain the last email made it. I sent a very apologetic "my email is acting up and I just wanted to be sure you received my response" email. I hope that was okay!

They'll be pleased you're conscientious enough to make sure, it'll certainly be OK if they've got it twice!

That's fantastic, tsq.

In fact, it's kind of a miracle. You actually found an editor who knows what he's doing. :D

Good luck! I hope they offer you a big fat contract.

Thanks everyone, I am so excited! I got an email letting me know that mine had been received, so that's good. I am so impatient, I want things to move forward faster!

Just a quick update.

Chapter 17 was 1,833 words, which brings the current novel total to 29,514 words.

I really need to work faster on this.

Just keep with it, man! :techman:

I am working on my cover, still. It's a pain. I want to start writing Part 4, but I don't want to do that until I've gotten this book completely "in the can."

I'm also trying to come up with another title. I'm not entirely happy with the current one it's the best I have at the moment.
