Alternate-Universe Sci-Fi Channel Show Asks What Would Happen If Germany Lost War

The show is considered by many to be another boon to the Sci-Fi Channel's fall schedule, which also includes Battlestar Gleichschaltung, a weekly drama about a starship crew that enforces the total coordination of intergalactic society and commerce, and the hit reality series Jew Hunters, in which a team of paranormal investigators scour banks and former Polish ghettos in search of Jewish spirits.

All it's missing is a Harry Turtledove reference!

...and it still sounds no worse than most of Siffy's programming! :p

Crack-up. And you're right, national Socialist Skiffy sounds like it has far more intelligent programming executives.

Battlestar Gleichschaltung, a weekly drama about a starship crew that enforces the total coordination of intergalactic society and commerce,
1. Gleichschaltung? After around five years of German I suppose I should be embarrased I can't even guess what that is. Anyone?

2. I would so watch a show with that premise. Not necessarily the whole Nazi propaganda part, but a starship going around jackbooting the universe into a corporatist economic structure... it'd be different.

3.Surprised they didn't make a genocide joke here. This was begging for a genocide joke.

All it's missing is a Harry Turtledove reference!
You mean The Man in High Castle, surely. This is just that, only a TV show instead of a novel.

Also, didn't Our Dumb Century have a bit about liberating the oppressed Americans of alternate realities?

Harry Turtledove wrote "In the Presence of Mine Enemies", which deals with a Nazi win in WWII.

But The Man in the High Castle is about the Nazis winning in WWII only an author in this universe has written an alternate history where the Allies won, but that alternate history he wrote doesn't quite match up to our reality.

Basically the whole premise of the gag. I guess it would have been too obvious, though.

I think Jew Hunters was the genocide joke.

And an Inglourious Basterds nod. All is forgiven.

Harry Turtledove wrote "In the Presence of Mine Enemies", which deals with a Nazi win in WWII.

He also wrote the "Lizard" stories where Germany sort of won as well as the Great War saga where the Confederacy did time as the "Nazi" side of things in a very different WWII. Plus the juvie books he wrote include some nods in this direction as well.

It's sad that I find it harder to believe in an alternate sci-fi channel that gets high ratings and produces quality, high-production value content than in a world that germany won world war 2.
