Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has quit

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

This would have been huge news in 1990.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

Can Arnel Pineda sing for Aerosmith too? ;)

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

Eh. Steve can go solo, and he might succeed, but if he really does quit, I don't know, maybe he can do it.

Either way I'm not too interested. While I like Aerosmith, they haven't been a band I've followed with any effort since about 1994.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

When asked about Tyler leaving Perry said it was crazy and filled him with sweet emotion but he won't be cryin' and plans on continuing because he didn't want to miss a thing.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

Almost as stupid as the proposed Led Zeppelin tour without Plant.

Irregardless of under what circumstances Tyler quit (if he even did), it's not Aerosmith without him. The others should go on to solo projects or even a new group together.

OTOH, both guitar players left in the late 70's and eventually came back, so it boils down to how much difference one or two members' absence makes. Or how iconic that member is.

Have fun selling no records Joe!

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

What if they get Plant to replace Tyler? :D

Or David Coverdale? He has the right sized ego.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

All we need now is for Mick Jagger to quit the Rolling Stones and Bono to quit U2 for the triple play!
:techman:

And then Tyler, Jagger, and Bono form a whole new band!

^ The Bag of Bones Band.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

a) Nothing like a bit of Drama Queen isn't it?

b) Aerosmith hasn't done something wortwhile since the early 00s (and maybe not even then) so i certainly don't miss a thing (and i was a die hard Aerosmith fan)

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

I gave up on Aerosmith after Get a Grip. That was the beginning of the descent into being a Rock Bollards band.

In the end its not about record sales. Some people like to perform. Its about that show in Las Vegas with us 50 and 60 year old's in the audience. Instead of a cover band playing our music with have part of Aerosmith holding the "official" name. It could be worse, I see my parents generation and you have different generations of surviving Temptations members running around hiring 4 other singers to tour as the Temptations Review for example. Can you see Dave Navarro 20 years from now heading one of many Red Hot Chili Peppers touring groups.:rommie:

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

I've always been a 1973-1979 Aerosmith fan. I saw them while they toured during the 1993 Get-a-Grip Tour but after that, I never cared for the "new" stuff they did.

Liv Tyler, on the other hand...

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

I had no idea they were even performing again. Tyler's shoulder seems to have healed fast.

Well, that pretty much goes without saying, but I'd have been semi-interested in seeing them live, performing their good material. I'd have no interest in seeing them with some replacement singer, which, as cheesy as they are now, they'd probably handpick from the contestants on some kind of competetive reality show. I can see it now, Joe Perry and Brad Whitford sitting behind a judge's table, Joe scratching his chin thoughtfully as he watches some 20-year-old American Idol reject in leather pants with a trendy haircut belting out some terrible rendition of "Dream On." Remember "Rockstar INXS?" I can totally see Aerosmith trying some nonsense like that.

I must be the only person who liked that show:bolian:. It didn't work as well with with supergroup Supernova, oops some band already had that name. When Arnel Pineda was chosen by Journey my thought was the opportunity that was missed. By the shows format they could have chosen him anyway no matter what the call in votors said.

Re: Joe Perry plans to keep Aerosmith going now that Steven Tyler has

Gotta admit, Aerosmith had a pretty good run after Run DMC revived their carreers.
