All it took was for a struggling team to rack up 45 penalty minutes (not an exaggeration!) on an off-night for their goaltender.Congratulations to the Maple Leafs on notching their first victory of the season.

The Wings got a win last night. They finally seem to be pulling things together a little bit. This team was really struggling with its identity the first couple weeks of the season...
Their goaltending has been struggling, that's for sure.
The Leafs have finally got some. Gustavsson has a save % over 900 and a GAA under 3.00. I do feel bad for Toskala. Poor guy. Like so many leafs goaltenders, I think he was destroyed by shell shock.
And how about those Hurricanes. 10 losses in a row now.

I just scored two tickets to the Sharks/Penguins game on Saturday Night. It's my second Hockey Game ever, and it's against the Stanley Cup Champions. I'm so freaking excited.
Seeing Kopitar play would be nice... if the Penguins were playing LA.

So the Kopitar vs. Crosby match-up goes to Kopi this time round.
Ah crap. That makes the Penguins angry coming to San Jose. Of course SJ lost on a fluke goal that should have been called dead in Detroit so it's all the makings of a postseason game. Should be fun.
Kopitar and Smyth are one hell of a combo, to be sure. Great pass feeds from Smyth, ungodly speed from Kopitar.So the Kopitar vs. Crosby match-up goes to Kopi this time round.

Carolina is last according to the standings. I at least have that comfort.
Well, they were tied and Carolina had more wins. But now... Leafs beat Carolina to claim 29th place outright. (And Carolina with a 10 game losing streak now. Ouch.)
As a Blue Jackets fan, I'll be rooting for the Leafs to smack down the Wings tonight.
I'll be rooting for Toronto's struggles to be continuing tonight.
