My Vote Elected Someone!

At my sister's urging I voted in the election on Tuesday even though it wasn't for a President... and guess what! My single vote was the difference that got a Democrat elected!!!

For the local election of (city name deleted) COUNCIL SIXTH WARD the vote was 87 Dems 86 Repub! One man CAN make a difference!

This is kind of shocking to me since individual votes are generally pretty much meaningless. Pretty cool.

Anybody else's vote decide an election?

God, this is sad. All our political parties can manage these days is insulting each other. No wonder the country is screwed--Congress is too busy screaming at each other, throwing pity parties, and infantile tantrums. And is it any wonder, when we consider our own behavior??

ANYWAY, on subject--I DO think it's cool, Mr. Light regardless of which way you turned the election, that your participation made a difference! That's what democracy is all about.

Mine. I ran for a county position in a very rural county back in the early 80s. Eleven votes were cast. Nine people got one vote and one person (me) got two votes. If I hadn't of voted for myself, my political career might have ended right then and there.

Libertarian, Green, Constitution, Objectivist, Working Families, American Patriot, American Heritage, Democratic Socialists, American Free Enterprise, Jefferson Republican, Labor, Socialist Action, Populist, Modern Whig and many many more that really don't amount to much.

It's basically the Yankees, Red Sox and a community college team.
