I suppose right from the get go I sided with "Helo" (Ballard?) when it came to this whole thing in that I didn't identify with anything the Dollhouse was doing, so I find it hard to be at all sympathetic with these characters and their moral dilemmas.

I don't think you're supposed to be sympathetic with them. The staff of the Dollhouse are protagonists, but no one has ever claimed they're the good guys.

I think this show is simply about exploring what it would mean for this technology to exist. It doesn't really need to define whether it's right or wrong in order to do that.

And by the way, I'm confused. I held off watching this episode until now in the hopes that it would help with the hiatus, but when I went to my DVR I saw it had snagged another Dollhouse episode from 10/30. Huh? I thought there wasn't going to be one?

It would seem that some internal tagging at the broadcast end was not redone then. Friday October 30 was back-to-back episodes of House. No Dollhouse.
