Chris Pine appreciation thread

Me, too; there actually was a little more skin showing in that scene. He's rolled over with his backside to the camera. You can see it when you watch it slo-mo. :D It was too blurry for a screen cap, I thought.

Oh, this is really good news.

Bleiberg Entertainment has acquired international rights to writer-director Ryan Craig’s Small Town Saturday Night starring Chris Pine and will launch the film at AFM.
Pine led the cast in J J Abram’s summer hit Star Trek and stars here as an aspiring musician struggling to choose between following his dream of becoming a rock star and staying behind with the woman he loves. John Hawkes and Brent Briscoe add support.
“Chris Pine always brings a fantastic charisma to his roles and this film is no exception,” Bleiberg’s head of acquisitions Nicholas Donnermeyer said. “It’s great to see his charisma shine through as it has in Star Trek and Bottle Shock.”
Roman Kopelevich negotiated the deal on behalf of Bleiberg Entertainment with Kevin Iwashina of IP Advisors and Alan Grodin of Weissman, Wolff, et al on behalf of producers Charlie Mason and Justin Moore-Lewy.
Beverly Hills-based Bleiberg Entertainment’s recent productions include Kirot and Paul Schrader’s Adam Resurrected with Jeff Goldblum and Willem Dafoe.
Pine’s upcoming projects include Tony Scott’s Unstoppable opposite Denzel Washington and the lead role in the next Jack Ryan project for Paramount.

Woo hoo! SQ you are a wonder! Thank you so much! :beer:

“Chris Pine always brings a fantastic charisma to his roles and this film is no exception...”
Yes! It is THE TRUTH! :lol:

This even beats pizza and halloween treats for lunch today at work. I am really happy. Plus seeing ST in IMAX tomorrow. Woo hoo. 19 days until the dvd.

I like that; a countdown. Well, I'm happy, too; there's at least going to be a DVD of Small Town, one would think. So, where can we likely find a screening when they put the schedule together?

I think it would be better if I didn't go to the wedding.

She's going to marry Andrew.

Ah, you're so right.

Well, this is a disaster in the making, my boy; wouldn't miss a moment of it! I'll try and catch the garter!

My goodness!! He does clean up beautifully. Whew!!! It's getting hot in here. <fans self>

I get daily google alerts for Chris Pine's name so hopefully we'll find out as the film goes forth. I want to see it on the big screen so bad. We get Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter in my office every day so I am going to keep my eyes open for any mention of it from now on.

^ Hehe, "cleans up beautifully"....
STARQUEST, that was a good idea to sign up for the google alerts. Jeri pointed me toward this site which tells you when he is going to be on television:

Have to repost this oldie but goodie. All i can say is , "Talk to the hand!"

God this picture kills me! The hand. THE HAND! I cannot stop looking at the hand. I want to BE that hand!!!

^ True! I swear, of all pictures, this is the one that gets me the most! And they say men think about sex all the time......HA!

It gets pretty toasty in here when I'm cutting the screen caps. :cool:

What is wrong with me that I never noticed the hand in that picture before. I figure he just noticed somebody was taking his picture and decided to check his zipper.

He's got such a sturdy neck. I like that.

Yeah, I was going to look into that Google alert, too. That's a great idea.

Well, I got my first google Chris alert today; so I'm set.

Once again, I note how his eyes look gray when he's wearing gray.

I decline; I refuse to be king!

It is Princess Mia who should have the crown.

If the parliament were astute, they would name her queen.

Besides -- just think how lovely she would look on our postage stamps.

Nicholas! I can't have you giving this all up for a girl!

Enough, Uncle! We're finished.

Jer, nice caps! That castle? looks awesome. What did the google alert notify you of? Is it the latest news regarding Chris?

Randi, they google the news every day for any news stories that pop up for Chris and send you the links with short synopses in a digest.

I wonder is Chris very aware that he stepped into big shoes as Captain Kirk but he totally was awesome in Star Trek.
It seems like a lot of people appreciate that he nailed an almost impossible job.

I noticed this E! Online article ("Chris Pine: Better Than Baldwin, Ford and Affleck?") with a poll that approved of Chris over Harrison Ford (and the other Jack Ryans) for the upcoming Tom Clancy movie; and from the comments, it sounds like people expect he's up to the task from what he did with Kirk.

The Jack Ryan Poll
Who's the best man for the job?

* 11.0% Alec Baldwin
* 33.6% Harrison Ford
* 17.1% Ben Affleck
* 38.3% Chris Pine

Since this is the Chris Pine appreciation thread I thought you might enjoy the comments made by some of his fellow Star Trek actors in interviews in "Star Trek Magazine."

Karl Urban (my second favorite character in the movie): "I feel so blessed to have worked with this guy: Chris Pine is simply phenomenal. He's going to blow up and become huge. He was such a pleasure to work with, and is just so extraordinarily talented. I really enjoyed getting in there and working with him every day. He is absolutely spot on as Kirk."

"Zoe Saldana loved working with Chris Pine. 'You guys are going to be so impressed with him - his approach to the character, the kind of Kirk that he and J.J. created, is so much fun,' she laughs. 'He's so sexy, so entertaining, and at the same time such a leader. This Kirk is no different than the original one: definitely a flirt, and the cockiness is overbearing at times, but it makes him who he is. There is a lot of fun stuff!'"

Aw, love them both.

While I've been poring over these early movies of his, I am arriving at that same conclusion where Karl is. Others have said he's the new Harrison Ford and think he's going to be a big star. (Personally, I like him better than Harrison Ford.) Chris does have a charisma; he's a force. I can see him becoming a big star. As always, though, I'm sure it will take some amount of luck, in addition to talent and work. All the best to him.

In other news...since I'm at the wedding juncture here in the PD2 screen caps -- and since technically this does have to do with Star Trek -- I'd like to just mention that I happened to notice with a pleasant surprise that Elinor Donahue is seated next to the Tom Poston character in the wedding scene.

I hadn't noticed her in the cast list, but the IMDb does have her listed as "Lady Palimor." In TOS, she played Commissioner Nancy Hedford/The Companion opposite Glenn Corbett as Zephram Cochran in the second-season episode, "Metamorphosis."
