I'm going with him being an over protective nut job (whether he was like that before the Monarch killed Wonder Boy our not, anyone's guess), but the "Default" is everyone thinking he's a pedo.

I gave it an average...now, average VB is infinitely better than 95% of everything else on TV...but as others have said, I just with they'd given Captain Sunshine some other personality quirk rather than "likes young boys". Of course, then we'd have lost the lube joke bit...and the Monarch was great in this...the Copter 5 bit...OK, maybe upon further reflection I need to upgrade to an Above Average... :)

I think they wanted to make Captain Sunshine into a "Red Herring" Joke much like Doctor Girlfriend was for seasons 1-2.

He was obviously disturbed and I think his Rainbow motif was funny as heck.

I think it was funny especially all of the previous refs int he previous episodes to Captain Sunshine and we find out he is another loser crapsack hero who is completely nuts.

I think that practically every character we've ever met in Venture Bros is a loser crapsack who is completely nuts...that's why I love the show...
Even the successful characters are deeply flawed. Dr. Venture's father, while a great superscientist and beloved by the world was a terrible excuse of a father.

I was really worried that VENTURE lost it's touch after the VERY below average season Premire, but this episode more then made up for it. I rate it, Go Team Venture! (Excellent)

Didn't one of the show's creators once said that the show's real theme was failure.

I think Jackson Publick said it.

This is great stuff. This is the kind of funny that drew me into TVB when I first discovered it. This and and season opener -- which I jsut watched back-to-back -- are just great.

They introduced Captain Sunshine is person, though he was referenced one or twice in the past.

^ The writers like to do that every now and again, by having a throwaway reference to a character in an episode, then, later on, have an entire episode build around the throwaway reference character.

This episode was brilliant as far as 'bait and switch' with the seeming pedophilia jokes. In reality Captain Sunshine had just become extremely deranged and overprotective because he had lost so many young sidekicks over the years. But the way it's presented up until the end of the episode makes it appear that he's a pedophile.

Supposedly Brock is not going to appear that much this season due to some other work that Patrick Warburton has to do in addition to this role.

Yeah, one thing I don't understand is why this show and "Family Guy" have shoved in little boy pedophiles. Both were sort of funny, but why was it needed at all? I'm getting sick of it.

This is what really hooked me on the Venture Bros.

Only VB can put a twist on something like this where family guy beats it to death with a spoon.

IRC, wasn't there a implication in one of the earlier episodes that Sgt. Hatred might have molested or attempted to molest Hank & Dean once in the past?

Sure, but he didn't molest *this* Hank and Dean...they are dead and gone, right? (Or did the reference imply it happened during the 2nd season? I don't remember...)
