ABC is trying!!

Look, you may not like their products, I do, but with LOST, FLASHPOINT, and soon to be V, at least ABC is trying to put some sort of SCIFI stuff on a major network.

LOST--Definately had its issues in seasons 2-3, but this show is heading for its final season after what I think was its best season yet..can't wait! Its MUST see again..

FLASHPOINT.. I really like this show. I like the depth of the characters. The lesbian kissing is always good, but the fact the characters (and especially the black dude who runs the LA FBI) have interesting depth, makes it very watchable. Not sure if they can substain this interesting idea, but I hope they do..

V...doesn't start until next week's 4 parter. But I like the idea of doing a 4 parter, and the eventual cliffhanger. I like what I am seeing in the previews, and I hope it pays off...

So, kudos to ABC for attempting to make shows with out accronyms about crime scene teams investigating this and that..(sorry, not a fan of CSI. CHEY was doing this stuff on Hawaii Five-0 years ago, and he was only one guy!)

Just to avoid confusion, I think you mean FLASHFORWARD, not FLASHPOINT.

Based (ahem) on the novel by Robert Sawyer.

I had a hard time getting into FlashForward and gave up. I never got started with Lost - maybe someday I'll get around to it on Hulu or DVD or something. V does look interesting, I'll admit. The 9-minute tease Hulu just posted had me flashing back to Earth: Final Conflict pretty strongly. But I'm interested enough to give it a try.

I stand corrected..Flashfoward indeed.

I was worried there for a second! Flashpoint is a good show, but I lost interest personally awhile back. If they'd suddenly gone to SWAT in Space, then I'd definitely check that show again.

Whether ABC is trying again, though, I don't know for certain. I'm still annoyed with how they handled Defying Gravity (according to one TV ratings blog the decision to pull the show after the 8th episode was apparently made BEFORE the show debuted, so ratings were irrelevant). And V is getting split up in a way I do not like (though at least it's not being held until 2010 which is what I had seen reported at one point). I've never been interested in Lost; the fact it's survived this long is more an anomaly than anything else. And it's not supposed to be around for much longer, anyway.

The potential is there for the new shows to be the next Lost or the next BSG, of course, but I've been burned too many times by shows I've liked getting cancelled by the mainstream networks (where should I start: Terminator, Threshold, Defying Gravity, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies - ABC, hello - to name only a few) for me to put too much faith in a network like ABC being a savior of the genre. I hope for the best for V and Flashpoi...er...forward. But I'm not taking any bets on their longevity.

Yes, of all the networks, ABC is the one I hate the least. :)

Hey, at least they tried a space opera series which is more than the other broadcast networks can say lately. And given how horrible that show was, I don't blame em one bit for deciding it was DOA and not wasting a decent timeslot on it. If I'd been the exec in charge of that show, I'd have buried it a deep as possible and crossed it off my resume. Sometimes when you greenlight a show, the results are not at all what you expected.

I grew to really like Defying Gravity, so that kinda makes me sad. What's the story on it anyway? Did I understand correctly that the remaining episodes were aired outside the US? Is it being produced elsewhere - could it continue?

^^

Well I for one never watched an episode of Defying Gravity. But every commerical I see is them floating around nude or making out or something.

Does it even have a story, because the commercials don't draw me in at all.

In your opinion. I and many people I know thoroughly enjoyed it and were quite disappointed not to see all 13 episodes.

I have no idea what DEFYING GRAVITY was. Is this a TV show that was on ABC???

It's a soup opera in space that started to go somewhere when all the fans already ditched the show. I do not blame ABC for that. If it was decent the show could have gotten an international season 2 pick up, it didn't.

Has Defying Gravity actually been axed, as in it's definitely not getting picked up for a second season? Or is it just ABC aren't showing any more? Because Defying Gravity is a co-production from networks/studios in about 5 different countries.

There is a rumor that the writer or director of the show saw the sets being destroyed. It might be confirmed, but I don't use Shitter... I mean Twitter.

The show sucked for after least 4-5 episodes, and I think most countries see that and ditched the show too.

It only just started airing here in the UK, but I didn't think the first 2 episodes were too terrible. I guess I'll keep watching anyway even if it's been cancelled.

Just the description of Defying Gravity made me ill. I ended up watching a couple of eps when the gf was watching it, but it was just as awful as it sounded. When I don't want to watch a show with space ships, it is not a good sign.
