The Sarah Jane Adventures S3 Discussion Thread (UK Pace)

I enjoyed that more than the opener last week - hope it sustains itself tomorrow. Thought the older Rani was very well portrayed as was Eve though the two boys in it looked frustratingly similar to Luke in my eyes.

I did think it dipped a bit towards the end and the cliffhanger wasn't the best but I did like the reference to the Time War and I also think I caught a reference to the Zodin (as mentioned in The Five Doctors and Attack of the Cybermen) being likened to the Fimbles. Which was nice. :)

Looking forward to tomorrow now.

We interrupt this discussion for a brief Ep 5 squeefully spoilerish moment.

Thank you.

Really enjoyed that and can't wait to see how it ends. I do hope we don't end up with Eve being just another 'evil alien' though. I rather liked her.

I've been hoping we'd get a Rani story soon. Really liked how they fleshed out her character in this. Delving into her insecurities. Liked the bit with Luke and Sarah teasing each other. Makes them feel more like a team and less Sarah playing babysitter. I have to wonder though what the Doctor is going to have to say about her getting highschoolers into dangerous situations though (like he can talk). Overall everyone seems a lot more relaxed this season, which is very welcome.

So far this season has been a big improvement over last year. Lets hope they can keep it up.

Eve was the highlight of the episode for me

and is it just me or does the Doctor look very tried in that picture

Another good one - nice outcome and all, though my prediction from yesterday wasn't borne out.

Nice to see the other member of the team join in (though how he can be back permanently in competition with his own upcoming show I'm not sure...)

The last scene was a bit cheesy and undercuts any future threat, but otherwise it was all pretty good. So far season 3 is shaping up as the best.

I liked this episode a lot better than the first one, Eve is a wonderful character.

was over joyed to see K9 return this made me happy, which is surprising as its not like im a massive K9 fan, or have seen him all that much.

Could have done without the last scene as well, I guess like the first one, its only one possible future. (as "future" is in sci-fi)

Its funny its a shame the Doctor never met Eve, he could have told her about her people, about why they died etc

only a tiny glimpse of the 3rd & 4th Doctors, I wont lie I knew it would only be a tiny glimpse but I was expecting a little bit more.

I think the production team knew that - that's why the closing refrain was a repetitive "Cheese"! Also like the way they acknowledged the "improbable" use of the black hole to power the ship thus releasing K-9 from his task.

Apart from that I found this episode a bit of a let-down after yesterday though it was nice to see the old-series flashbacks too. :)

this episode was a vast improvement on yesterday, (why am I having to say that alot today? )

moving on did anyone else spot the "what the Doctor ordered" sign?

I noticed it! But then the camera moved just as I did, so I wasn't sure if it was or not, and kept gesturing to my TV screen for the camera to pan to the right a bit so I could see it again :P

Good episode! A MASSIVE improvement on last weeks episode in my opinion (mainly because I don't like Rani's parents, and they were completely absent in these episodes). Everytime The Doctor was referenced, I was on the verge of squeeing, and when the Tardis door opened and you saw him emerge for a brief section, I clapped, realised what I done, and embarrassedly looked around the room.

Was it just me, or did the Doctor come out of the Tardis in the attic (in the next time trailer I think it was), looking really worn out, and almost angry. I was thinking that this episode could actually be set AFTER the upcoming Waters of Mars episode (with something happening to the Doctor in that episode, that he refuses to reveal in the SJA episode).

I'm really looking forward to next weeks episode though. Am I right in saying next weeks episode will only be the second time we've seen something new from the Doctor this year?!

Not just you. He looks knackered to me, too.

I enjoyed the second part today. I saw the last half of it. It's the only SJA I've seen this year, and I really enjoyed it.

Awww, I got all teary-eyed at that. I'm such a sucker for sap. I loved it! Though to me it felt like the sort of thing that would've made an excellent season finale. The ending just had that whole 'new beginning' feel to it. And it just odd that they're teasing the whole 'He is coming' thing when his appearance is just one episode away.

So happy Eve turned out good. Heck, ever Sarah was surprised. :) Just a poor confused teenager. Gotta admit I wouldn't mind seeing more adventures with her and her friends.

Loved poor Eve trying to mimic Rani's silly kung-fu action pose when she and Clive jumped out at each other. So cute!

Only one concern though. Won't the police be very interested in talking to Sarah? After all, Adam did vanish under mysterious sircumstances right after a visit from her group. This, and last weeks incident at the nanotech firm, I'm sorried Sarah Jane is leaving a pretty obvious trail. Could be trouble if the authorities (or Unit) manage to put 2 and 2 together.

Anyway, heresd' hoping the rest of the series is this good.

Isn't that only showing in Australia?

Didn't RTD say that "Planet of the Dead" was the last time the tenth Doctor "has fun"? That could be why he seems "worn out"; he knows his end is coming.

Okay that was just a brilliant double... the second episode was just fabulous, couldn't be more fanboish if it tried. Shots of both Pertwee and Baker... Sneak Preview of Tennant... and K9 returns, and is saved from hell in the black hole.

Fantastic. Bring on next week.

Where were the shots of Pertwee and Baker? I have this on disc, I need to go back and check out the beginning of the episode, which I missed.

I haven't really kept up with the news on SJA over the summer. Is there a new Producer/production team? Because these first two stories have a totally different feel than previous seasons.

Thats why. Its at the very beginning, just after the recap.

Piers Wenger has joined as Executive Producer this season, and he's also producing DW season 5 alongside showrunner Steven Moffatt
