Whatley and Whatley-Random Observation

Joel_Kirk

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
There was an Admiral in an episode named 'Rapture'(?) named Whatley...and I thought it was interesting that in 'Trials and Tribble-ations' there was a Lt. Whatley....

If both of those 'Whatley's' are related, it would be interesting if the Admiral came across a family album (or some historical media) and found out that a doctor who looked like Julian Bashir tried to make a pass on one of his ancestors!

[Interestingly, Bashir would try to rationalize to himself as to why he should have a relationship with Lt. Whatley from the Kirk-era...]

Where would he find a picture of Bashir hitting on his ancestor?

That's a good point.

Unless 'the flap' was opened on the tricorder, and the conversation was recorded....and the Admiral 'just happened' to come across it.

However, you're correct...technically there wouldn't be any
'pictures' .....;)

Also just looking up the character, her name was Watley not Whatley. There was also a white Starfleet engineer named Whatley on DS9 so if anyone would be related to Admiral Whatley it would be that DS9 engineer and not the Enterprise science officer.

The DS9 officer could be a son-in-law who took the wife's last name...(something I considered doing, which would have been intersting since I proabably would be marrying someone from Taiwan).

Good catch, though.....

@mattyhugh-

Bashir may be in the clear, unless the Watley and Whatley ARE related, and someone in the family line deleted the 'h' in the surname....:lol:

Possible. My ancestors back in like the 16th century changed the spelling of their last name, which ended with "son", to "shun".
